I need to report every 90 days (as do many of us). I reported in August, and renewed my visa in September. Does the 90 days count from the date of the last report or from the date of the new visa date?

Appreciate it if anyone can tell me.

As to my understanding the new EXTENSION OF STAY does NOT goes hand in hand with the 90 days report.

So you have to count the days from you last 90 days report.. do not care extension date.....

If you made a 90 day report then Immigration would/should have clipped into your passport the tear-off portion of the form and on it is stamped the next report date that is 90 days from your last report. Extension of stay dates are separate.

Please do not use terms like 'new visa' or 'renewed my visa' if, in fact, you are referring to an Extension of Stay to avoid confusion.

This may seem a daft question in view of previous replies, but I am getting conflicting reports of when I have to make my first 90 day report and I want to get it right.

My O visa was issued 20 July 2012 with permission to stay until 17 October 2013, so my first report is due about next week. However, I left the country for 3 days recently and returned on 3rd August.

So is it correct that my first report is now due 90 days after 3rd August?

Thanks.

Yes, 90 days after returning to Thailand. The stamps in your passport confirms this to immirgation.

(You got an extension of stay, not an O visa)

You see, now you're confusing me. As I type this I'm looking at a stamp in my passport headed Non-Immigrant Visa, and the category is "0". Surely that means I've got a Non-Imm O visa?

You entered Thailand on a non-O visa, but went to immigration to get an extension of stay. Hence your permission to stay untill Oct 2013. Your visa itself has since expired, unless you had a multiple.

Mario, Hua Hin Immigration issued my visa on 20th July this year. The only time I've been to Immigration was to get a re-entry permit for my August trip after which I was stamped back in until Oct 2013. Can you explain what you mean when you say my visa has expired? Maybe it's just my elderly brain but that doesn't seem to make sense.

The visa is what you get from a Thai consulate abroad and enables you to travel to Thailand. When allowed to enter Thailand you get a permission to stay and it is that permission to stay that you extend, not the visa itself.

Many people mix these things up, but they are different things and soemtimes it makes a difference whether you are on a visa entry or on an extension of stay.
