Hello, can someone with experience please offer me a little advise?

This morning I received my one-yr visa extension based on marriage. This is my first one - and I am very pleased.

However, the writing on the stamp is very smudged/unclear. And I see no other date telling me when I should return for the 90-day report.

I'm guessing that the stamp says something like I have to report in 90 days (is this correct)?

But do I have to count those 90 days myself or should I have a date in my passport when I must return for the 90 day report?

If so, when does the 90 days start, from today or when I applied for the extension?

Many thanks to anyone who knows the answers.

Cheers

You probably got a stamp that says "under consideration" valid for 30 day or you should have gotten it.

After 30 days you must return to immigrations for reminding 11 months, then you will also receive a receipt telling you when to do your 90 day report.

90 day reports are not stamped into the passport.

I have received the extension. It says in big letters "THAI WIFE" and that the visa expires 15 Sept 2013. I can read that. It's the bit under the THAI WIFE 5 OCT 12 that is partly illegible.

You are required to report your address every 90 days that you are continuously in Thailand. If they did not staple a seperate peice of paper in your passport with the report date stamped on it, you are responsible for counting the 90 days. It starts and includes the day the the extension was granted. You must report to the same office that is responsible for the area where you live. If you are reporting in person or by proxy, you can report 15 days beore up to 7 days after the report date. If you are late reporting, there is a 2000 baht fine. Most offices will allow you to report by mail, a few won't. If you report by mail the package must be received before the due date. Recent reports indicate that they are asking that you send it in 15 days in advance. You must fill in form TM7, but there is no charge. My office requires the TM7 and copies of the passport bio page, visa page, permissionto stay stamp page , and front and back of the departure card. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info. Just to be clear: the 90 days starts from today (the day when my extension was approved). Is that correct?

The first application (not issue) is considered your first 90 day report so time should be counted from the date you submitted your TM.7 for extension in my view (I may be wrong but you will not be late if I am). Count 90 days from application and make your first TM.47 report then. Some offices may advise you; but others will not.

I was wrong on two points:

1. Form is TM47 not TM7.

2. As lopburi states, the 90 days starts on the day that you apply, not the day that it is finally granted

I would have thought from the day you applied (15 Sept ) count 90 days, as that is the day you proved you were in Thailand to the Immigration staff, so 90 days from then.
