Sorrayuth

BANGKOK: -- The Anti Corruption Network yesterday released an open letter, asking TV Channel 3 to reveal its stand on alleged graft offences involving anchorman Sorayuth Suthassanachinda.

The letter, signed by ACN chairman Pramon Sutheewong and sent to station operator BEC World Plc, reminded the management of its obligations to transparency and the fight against corruption.

"The ACN is spearheading the awareness campaign to wipe out corruption complacency which condones graft violations for the sake of self-gain," the letter said.

BEC World, as a national business entity, it said, should play a leading role in rooting out corruption in order to boost confidence in the Thai business community.

The ACN outlined the case involving Sorayuth, which stemmed from a ruling by the National Anti-Corruption Commission. The ruling found cause to suspect fraudulent transactions between Sorayuth's news production house, Rai Som, and MCOT, a listed company in which the state holds a majority stake.

ACN and Isara Institute then organised a session to cite the case as a lesson in compliance on journalistic and business standards. This led to the National Press Council and News Broadcasting Council to call for accountability of those charged under the ruling. The ACN said it did not intend to condemn the accused but wanted to set a precedent on corruption-free business.

BEC is a public company - if the shareholders had any brains they would vent their dissatisfaction and dump the shares. That would soon get him off their books, but like all Thai's I guess they just figure - not their problem. coffee1.gif Som num na.

If they had to fire all corrupt people on TV, it would be a quite empty in the studios !

The "elite" run and cheat the masses and TV is one of the things they use to do it !

TV3 RESPONSE: "MAI PEN RAI" giggle.gifcheesy.gifwai.gif Besides it IMPROVES their Audience numbes /RATINGS!!!!! And we all know Advertisers/

sponsors love that, and so do the stockholders. MAI PEN RAIwai.gif

If they are serious about reducing or eliminating corruption they should begin in the schools. That is where the Thai indoctrination is accomplished. Corruption is allowed and accepted as common culture practices. It would take a generation or more to cleanse the culture but it could work or at least start things in the right direction.

So has he gone to court and been convicted of fraud....NO

"The ruling found cause to suspect fraudulent transactions between Sorayuth's news production house, Rai Som, and MCOT, a listed company in which the state holds a majority stake."

suspect fraudulent transactions... suspect..so no conviction. Well most everybody suspects Phua Thai mp's of fraudulent transactions....................................... Oh and this goes back to 2006. instigated by Phua Thai to try and get rid of a thorn in their side.
