Can I hit the "journalists" face if they want to take a photo when if I ever have to go to police station ?

I couldn't stand these rats trying to talk about what is not their business.

And who call them actuallly ? Do they pay the cops or one of the rats is living at the police station ?

The police call them as a matter of course, and likewise as a matter of course, they pay the police.

Cool, about time the authorities started to clamp down on this sort of thing - I don't like those "naughty-boy" forums with their trip reports and photos of girls posters have spent the night with, and I also don't like sitting in a bar watching the world go by and having my picture taken, without asking or a do you mind first.

There has been some interesting stuff on Stickmans site recently about pictures being posted on the internet .

I would prefer it if the authorities spent less time arresting someone for posting naked pics(presumably) of a hooker online and spent more time catching the handbag snatchers, clamping down on thuggish taxi/tuk/motorcycle touts, jet ski scammers and al the other low life in the tourist spots that give Thailand the bad reputation it is fast receiving!

Agreed - (but the report doesn't mention she was a hooker !).

True-however, we should be basing our thoughts/opinions on normal process. That would mean this was his Ex girlfriend, who who he met in a bar in Soi five, which would indeed mean that she was a hooker, even if she isn't now by virtue of the fact that she became his girlfriend and stopped working immediately so "he could take her away from this dreadful life".

Regardless of whether she is or was a prostitute, one cannot post pornographic pictures of someone on the internet without their consent. Current case being case in point.

The more active stations have journalists standing by at all times for something juicy.

True-but then I are we sure whether or not they were pornographic, or just the normal "single Thai lady seeks wealthy foreigner" sales stuff?

Jesus, people save the rhetoric, he has been only accused, and the whole forum explodes with endless supposition. He claims he is inocent so lets wait and see what transpires. What happened to the burden of proof.

LOL Surely you jest.. look at the top of the page.. you're on TV.

Also there is precious little rhetoric. - Dictionary definition: the art or science of all specialized literary uses oflanguage in prose or verse, including the figures of speech.

Oops my bad. 12 posts. I should have thought first and not laughed. You'll get used to it.

The full facts are not available BUT IF this chap has taken pictures of this woman and posted them on the internet he's in the wrong.

There are too many of these Sex Traveler's sites where pictures of women are posted and sex tourism is discussed. IF that's what he has done, then he deserves to go down

Aussie Arrested For Posting Lady's Nude Pics

aus.jpeg

Chonburi immigration police arrested a 56-year-old Australian for posting nude photographs of a Thai woman on the Internet, in an apparent extortion attempt. The woman said the nude photos destroyed her reputation and notified police. The man denied trying to blackmail her.

PATTAYA – October 9, 2012 [PDN]; at 9 p.m., the arrest of a man for posting nude photos of a Thai female in a blackmail attempt was announced by acting superintendant Pol. Col. Chaiyos Warakjoonkiet, immigration department, Chonburi province; along with the detective police team.

The suspect was identified as Mr. Glavina Luciano, age 56, nationality Australian. He is charged with trying to extort money, libeling others by displaying, distributing, or showing to people pornography on the Internet accessible to public view, according to the arrest warrant of Rayong Provincial Court at J.650/2555, dated September 25, 2012.

Police said the victimized woman came to notify the Khao Chamao police station, Rayong province, about the blackmail attempt. She said that nude photograhs of herself were posted online, which made her lose her reputation. After obtaining evidence, immigration officers of Chonburi province requested an arrest warrant from Rayong provincial court to arrest Mr. Glavina.

I agree with posters who say that he has not been convicted of anything yet, so the presumption of innocence seems reasonable - perhaps not in Thailand. If he is proven guilty of attempted blackmail in the alleged manner then he is truly an idiot and deserves all he gets. But there are a number of confusing issues not the least of which is the idea of "libel". I always thought that a defence to libel was to show that it was the 'truth' and or 'opinion'. The posting of a nude picture surely cannot be judged to be 'untrue' and depending on how the picture is taken (degree of private action as in sexual activity) will rest the issue of "pornography". Surely a straight forward nude photo cannot be judged as pornographic even in Thailand.

None of what I have said detracts from his stupidity in posting the picture(s) in the first place but there must be much more to this for such serious charges to be levelled and supported by the court. It will be interesting to hear how the court case goes or whether it all gets sorted out with pre trial money.

Wow, that's a whole hell of a lot of assumptions there . . . do you write stories for a living?

As I posted earlier in this thread, a German guy got convicted of this a couple of years ago and he got 8 years.

Am far from being a missionary, but I also don't assume that all Thai girls are hookers or bar girls.

And it says a lot about you if you read something worrying about the signature lol . . . and your handle seems wholly inappropriate based on your posts so far, hardly 'considered'.

This could be a big business for the BIB in Pattaya.

Any pictures taken inside bars , upload to your facebook and expect to pay a heavy fine.

According to the news report, he allegedly posted explicit reports of this lady and then attempted to blackmail her.

IF he is found guilty then I hope the authorities punish him accordingly.

Seems that he got that a bit mixed up. I thought the purpose of blackmail was to stop posting explicit reports (among many other things) on the internet?

Agree fully with your line 2. Idiots that consider it neccessary to do that sort of thing are missing something, IMO

Reads more like memory recall to me................coffee1.gif

Makes you wonder if he has ever had casual sex here or has always paid for it. Or is casual sex not allowed in Thailand?

Am speculating, but only paid I would think . . . and got burned . . . hence the downer on the women here.

I also object to being filmed ,the other day my wife and i were having a coffee in central and noticed this guy filming two ladyboys ,he then continued filming and as we left started to film us , i have nothing to hide ,but on the other hand dont want to end up on the internet.

If you have nothing to hide, why do you care if you are on the internet?

There is a post on Pattaya One saying the Embassy has been contacted and the payment request from the girl is 3M Baht.

Darling we know what you are - we are now only negotiating the price.

Pictures of a Thai girl on the internet? They would have to prove he took them first, then posted them second, and if he did, she posed against her will? But is she a hooker - what reputation is there to lose - she is already allowing the pics? It's all about the money.

But you can probably bet, if the guy is a high profiler which they claim, and she may know, he would not be stupid enough to put the pics up where they can be tagged back to him. Methinks this is the Thai boyfriend in cahoots with the hooker. The location where the photos were taken would go a long way to proving innocence or guilt. Let's not be too hasty here - the ball of wax has yet to melt.

Let's get this straight now. It is okay to splash photos of a passport and other ID all over the media, publish the names and addresses of victims and witnesses (and suspects that have not even stood trial), but a photo of a girl posing willingly is out of bounds? By what statute? Is there such a thing as case law and precedent in Thailand or is it all BIB opinion? And the Oztalian golfer is so famous nobody has heard of him? Maybe it is because he goes to a pub to attend golf events--expecting to run into Rory McIlroy no doubt.

YES and again YES YES.... Police are spending time on petty crimes, when their own well dressed men in tights are not chasing after PORN sites and all the cheating that goes on in Pattaya. It sounds like someone is waiting with their hands stretched out.... Lady loose reputation :)

common, what reputation?

The problem with most ladies in Pattaya, they think they are it... NOW she really has lost it.... does she think she has gained her face! Try MISTIN lady, it helps all those have no face at all.

Agreed - (but the report doesn't mention she was a hooker !).

Most of the world believes in freedom of expression - which includes photos, articles, etc.

???? NUDE PHOTOS??? Not a hooker - Ok, a free lancer..!! If she posed for them, then she deserves the result.

I will agree that the police should investigate serious crimes rather than this garbage. As for photos - these days, everyone has a camera phone and public is public whether or not we like it.

If you visit a nude beach in Europe or the US, anyone with a phone can take your picture - or you take theirs. IMHO - who cares..??

You seem to presume that any time spent chasing after "lesser" crimes is time not spent chasing "greater" crimes - as if the smaller ones should just be ignored. I Would be inclined to presume that this guy was busted because the woman in question complained... what are the police supposed to do? "We'd love to help you dear, but we've got jetski scammers and bag snatchers to catch... sorry."

Complaining makes it a crime?
