ICE vs EV, the debate thread
When it comes to the Toyota solid state battery, a new revolutionary combustion engine, or some other Toyota pie-in-the sky propaganda "which is just around the corner" it's all meant to keep current Toyota customers hanging on a little longer for that revolutionary Toyota innovation/vehicle that always seems to be just around the corner...can now see it on the horizon...just hold on a little longer....etc. Toyota (and Honda) are really behind the EV vehicle curve and I think have made the business decision to put most of their plans it transitioning from "ICEV to Hybrid and then to EV".....they are simply not making the ICEV to EV jump....they are first taking an interim jump to Hybrid. They see that as the best business decision and maybe it is. While I think Toyota makes excellent ICEVs (I still own a 2009 Fortuner I bought new but now my primary vehiche is a 2023 BYD EV) Toyota is really dragging their feet in the transition to EVs and using tactics like advertising "revolutionary" propaganda to help mask their foot dragging (i.e., business decision). But hey, it's their business...and it could very well be the best long term business decision to concentrate on selling Hybrids for now while they slowly catch-up in EV technology. -

Elderly Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Collision in Ayutthaya
An elderly man was struck and killed while crossing the road. The 71-year-old man was first hit by a motorcycle, causing him to fall, before being fatally run over by a car. The driver of the car fled the scene. Residents have long complained that the area is dangerously dark due to broken streetlights that have been neglected for some time. The accident occurred at 08:20 on October 5, on Highway 3056, near Wat Khok Mayom in Khan Ham Subdistrict, Uthai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. Police officer Lieutenant Rittai Waliittikul from the Uthai Police Station responded to the call, along with rescue workers from Ayutthaya Ruamjai Foundation. Upon arrival, they found the scene dimly lit, as streetlights were not working. The body of Boonlert Treechai, 71, lay in the middle of the road. Nearby, approximately 30 metres away, a motorcycle with the license plate from Ayutthaya was found toppled over. The motorcyclist had already been taken to the hospital with injuries. Witness Sarath Phetsrimong, 21, reported that while driving in the area, he saw the motorcycle hit the victim, who was crossing the road. At that moment, a black Toyota Vios sped by and ran over the man’s body before fleeing towards the Uthai-Bang Pa-In intersection. Surin Pan-Iam, a local delivery rider familiar with the area, mentioned that he often saw the elderly man, the owner of a nearby accommodation block, walking around. He said the road is extremely dark, and the streetlights had been out for a long time, creating a hazardous environment with frequent accidents. Police have begun reviewing CCTV footage from nearby shops. The footage shows the victim crossing the road when the motorcycle hit him, causing both the victim and the motorbike to crash. Sparks flew as the motorcycle skidded across the road, and shortly after, the car ran over the victim. Authorities are now working to locate the hit-and-run driver for further legal action. Partly this stupid belief in karma, when it's your time to go it will be, so what you do has no bearing on it. Basic common sense like helmets and using seat belts is too much for a lot of them to grasp. In all the years I have been here never once seen anyone using seat belts in the rear of cars. -
