[Myanmar] Us Says It Backs Burma's Efforts To Restore Ties With Lenders

A senior US Treasury official said on Saturday that Washington will support Burma’s efforts to restore relations with global lenders as long as political and economic reforms in the country continue. “We think it’s very significant for the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, as well as the International Monetary Fund, to be able to re-engage with Myanmar as they undertake these very significant reforms,†US Treasury Undersecretary for International Affairs Lael Brainard said in an interview with Reuters. The US has eased sanctions on Burma, but currently provides no direct loans.
