3Bb And Dsl N55U (Phone Line Not Connected)

Featured Replies

Thanks to help from the people in the other topic im now one step further.. so i thought.

Unfortunately if i take the phone line from the other router and plug it in the new one it just does not recognise the phone line. So no interent connection. I am now back on my old router.

I wonder if anyone has some suggestions. Could it be that the router is not compatible (strange as i could select tt&t from the list. Maybe some problem with the phone line ?

Strange that the old one works then.

Don't really know what you mean when you say "does not recognise the phone line". Do you mean the modem won't sync? For instance, the DSL sync light doesn't go solid?

I presume you have all other ADSL settings the same as the old router (VPI/VCI etc).

No it just says that the phone line is not connect. Strange thing is i took that same phone line out of the old router and back again and it works.

It just acts like there is no phone line connected to the router. I don't even get that far to go to settings as it does not recognize the phone line.

Leave the phone line connected to the ASUS and then power off/on a few times and wait a couple of minutes. It maybe that your local DSLAM needs to recognise the new modem.

Forgot to say, you should see the DSL light blink rapidly and then go solid.

I tried now dork and crossy his options. Both did not work. I am now back to the old router.

The router keeps going back to a light with 1 noted. I keep getting the same thing no phone line connected.

It could be like you say dork that the DSLAM needs to recognise it. I waited rebooted multiple times. Its strange i might have to call 3bb, but i expected this to be a lot easier. This is not the first router i ever set up.. also not the 10th. set up many of these (not this one but others)

Did you change the standard WAN Settings ?

I believe (not 100% sure, so maybe another Member with access to a 3BB modem could confirm) it should be

PVC = 0

VPI = 0

VCI = 33

Mode = Routing

Encapsulation = PPPoE

Multiplex = LLC

Hmmm, frustrating. One last suggestion is leave the line completely disconnected from either router for a decent time (perhaps an hour) and then try again with the ASUS.

I'm quite sure there won't be compatibility issues with that router. Of course, it's possible that it's faulty - though that is pretty rare nowadays.

( for the 3BB DSL settings) http://www.wudthipong.com/blog/howto/adsl/%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%A7%E0%B8%9A%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%A7%E0%B8%A1%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%95%E0%B8%B1%E0%B9%89%E0%B8%87%E0%B8%84%E0%B9%88%E0%B8%B2-modem-adsl-%E0%B9%81%E0%B8%95%E0%B9%88%E0%B8%A5/

I think you should just manually configure the device. (Yes, I know these newer Asus devices auto- or self-configure, but I've done two recent Asus DSL-N12U - True online installs recently and I manually configured each one successfully.)

Use a browser, 192.168.1.1 admin/admin WAN, DSL WAN, create/edit a connection.

Or install the software, and run the ADSL Setting Wizard, Start, Programs, Asus...., ADSL Setting Wizard: pg. 47 of the manual.

You have to enter a username and password (for 3BB) somewhere as this cannot be magically configured.

Changed those before and i made a screen shot of my old router. Too bad it wont work.

I went to the manual configuration, but kept getting the phoneline issue. Will try again

3bb is saying that they don't have to change a thing at their side, it should be plug and play. That was what i expected too. Strange, trying now to get to asus support but the phone number for Thailand are not workin (nice)

Just remembered I had a similar issue once with a Linksys. In that case it turned out to be the power supply. Though all the lights and webgui worked normally it wouldn't connect properly.

If you have a spare one with the same voltage & at least the same amps, give it a go.

Did you install the Asus software? Pretty much idiot proof?

Ok i got it to work now, after i called with asus and they told me to install the new firmware. Could have saved me a lot of work if i had known about this issue.

Anyway mission complete.

Have you put in your assigned username password from 3BB in the router settings? I can't see where you said you did that.

.Insist 3BB send a guy round, then wait 4 days for him
