Son Murders Disabled Father in Ratchaburi
A 20 year old man fatally attacked his disabled father with a machete in their home in Suan Phueng District, Ratchaburi. Authorities detained the suspect after a brief manhunt in the nearby forest. Police received a report at 17:00 on November 16, about a violent incident at House in Moo 6, Ban Huai Nam Nak, Tanawsri Subdistrict, Suan Phueng District. The responding officer, Lt. Pongskorn Kusonapiban, and investigators from Suan Phueng Police Station, along with forensic experts and medical staff, rushed to the scene. The victim, identified as Mr. Chaiyo Bang, a 42 year old Karen man, was found in his sleeping area with severe injuries. His throat was slashed nearly to the point of decapitation, and he had a deep wound on his right cheek. A machete and a bloodied sugarcane knife were recovered at the scene. The suspect, Mr. Niti, the victim's 20 year old son, fled into the forest after the attack. After a 30 minute search, police apprehended him. He appeared intoxicated, but the substance could not be immediately identified. His statements were incoherent, and he was taken to Suan Phueng Police Station for questioning. According to a neighbour, Mr. Samai, the victim was physically disabled. The suspect frequently displayed violent behaviour, often intoxicated, and had a history of damaging property and verbally abusing his parents. The neighbour recounted that about a month ago, the suspect destroyed parts of their home during a drunken outburst. The house had only recently been repaired. On the day of the incident, the suspect was heard arguing with his father before the attack occurred. The victim's wife screamed for help, prompting neighbours to discover the grisly scene. "People in the community have grown weary of Niti's behavior," said Mr. Samai. "He had previously been sent for rehabilitation, but each time he returned, he reverted to his old ways." The victim's body was sent to Ratchaburi Hospital for forensic examination. Police have charged Mr. Niti with premeditated murder and are conducting drug tests to determine if substance abuse played a role in the crime. Picture from responders. -- 2024-11-18 -
