Kirkland concedes a goal, and gets attacked by a supporter of the opposition?! I know supporters can be thick, but really....???!!!! Did the Leeds supporter have a punt on his team losing or something?!

http://www.bbc.co.uk...otball/20012421

Former Liverpool and England keeper Kirkland, 31, had just conceded a 77th-minute equaliser to Michael Tonge as Leeds fought back to draw 1-1.

Moments later, a fan from the Leeds end ran on to the pitch and struck Kirkland with such force he fell to the ground.

Apparently Sheff. W. fans were chanting "Jimmy Saville shagged your mums" or something along those lines.

Not that this excuses the simians, but I can't imagine it went down very well.

Anyway, the <deleted> got four months in chokey.

Good clap2.gif

As a current Leeds inhabitant (albeit only a few weeks a year, given that I have a far nicer place to live in Isaan) I'd just like to point out that this unwelcome speck of proverbial hails from Cheltenham of all places, not Yorkshire. I'm not saying that the lilly whites are whiter than white of course.

Goalkeeper Assault: Man Jailed For 16 Weeks

A football fan has been jailed for four months after he admitted assaulting Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Chris Kirkland.

Aaron Cawley, from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, also pleaded guilty to invading the pitch during the Championship match against Leeds United on Friday night.

Sheffield Magistrates Court heard the unemployed 21-year-old was so drunk he could not remember the attack.

He later emailed Sky Sports, which had been broadcasting the game live, and the police, saying: "It was a disgrace and I'm embarrassed by my actions."

Cawley, who has supported Leeds United all his life and went to every home and away game, told police he had drank a number of cans of Stella Artois lager and three-quarters of a litre of vodka before arriving in Sheffield for the match.

Once in the city, he drank up to 10 pints of cider.

leeds fans were singing at sheff wed manager dave jones about the child-molesting accusations he had to face himself years ago, all of which he was fully acquitted of. horrible that.

genius idea to play this heated local derby on a friday night by the way. i mean the knobheads who took a half day only had seven hours to get whammoed before kick-off didn't they?

Wednesday fans sung about Galatasaray and, the 2 murdered Leeds fans, then sung "town full o peado's, your justa town full o peado's"...... to which the Leeds fans retorted, "he shags who he wants he shags who he wants, he's Jimmy SaVile, he shags who he wants"

Classy, I know, but fans will be fans won't they and you will get mindless chants at football games, its part and parcel but, that thin line was crossed and, totally agree with the Friday night comments, bloody ridiculous that. United and just about every other team in a big derby would have to play at midday, I know United have had some at 11.45...!!

Chelsea fans cross the line everytime we play them but the FA does nothing. And i'm talking far worse than the racist John Terry ever said to Ledley King when he racially abused him over six years ago. Ledley being the person he is made far less of it than he could have and continued when able to be a far better player than terry could ever hope to be.

No real surprise when it comes to Dirty Leeds, what a moron the bloke was though.

And he only got 4 months, what did cantona get banned for, for the attack on the fan? should have been at least 6 months for this so called fan.

Bit of a difference between a ban from playing football and doing time in nick, don't you think?

Well as it was not on the field of play, i would think it becomes a criminal matter and should be delt with by the police, maybe the dick who abused Cantona did not want to press criminal charges, but if Cantona was taken to a criminal court and given a jail term, as the thai's say som num na.
