As been discussed before keeping a Thai housemaid is next to impossible unless you pay +12.000 bath pr month. The last one we had got 400 bath pr day and came 3 times a week. Then after about 1 month she didn't show up on time (0800 but Thai time, lol) and started to leave early because of this and that, so my wife told her to stay away, politely. Another one we had was sometimes drunk as a skunk when she showed up, lol.

So we paid 100 bath above min. daily wage but still not good enough??

My wife is very kind to our housemaids, always talk politely and not yak-yak with them so it's not there the problem is. We know about some other wives in the Moo Baan that change maids maybe 3-6 times a year because they just walk away one day (pay day) and not to be seen again. Okay some of the wives I been told are not very nice to their house maids and demands the whole house shining as nobody lives there and are shouting at them.

We been tinkering about the idea to get a house maid from Myanmar but that will have to be a "live in" maid which we never tried before. It's not the live in that worrying me, we got a maids room outside the house that I can quickly empty (garden tools/tools/all sorts of crap) and set up a bed and maybe even a small TV.

I been told they will work for 6-8000 bath pr month which is fair enough.

Whats worrying me most is, does the Myanmar house maids work here legally? I could imagine that I could get into all sorts of problems with immigration/police if they found out that she don't have a work permit.

My wife have been offered a h.m. from the guards in the Village so they seems to be easy to get but as I said I want it to be fully legal.

Anybody here in Pattaya have any experience with foreign house maids? We given up on the Thais, they don't seems to be interested.

Hi ,

My last Myanmar house maids was a really good worker for month , we allow us to bring her kid and give them a nice room and access to all the house + village .

I also buy a lot of toys for the kid and give them all they need . Me and my wife decide to go Phuket for 1 month and leave her with her kid in the house .

She had below us 3 000 bat and had receive 6000 bath of salary and 4 000 bath to pay some bills , She decides to leave with the money , microway , rice cooker , coffe machine ...

The worst of all ! she did not feed the dog and he die !

She stay with us month ...

Also i use the service of 4 maid , they all stole from me or my wife ... will be way to long to explain all the story but overall if they see money they take it ...

Thanks for the reply Turcotte.

Not very encouraging, sorry about the dog.

No way I would allow a house maid to bring her kid! What's next, the husband? Nooo thanks.

We never had money (or other things) stolen.

Also i use a company services 3 maid at the same time clearing everything in 1 h ...

I get stole ... they all blamed each other ...

If i forget she stole from me the experience was fantastic . It was like leaving in a hotel ! Every morning she will clean before i wake up by herself i never had to teach her or explain her nothing she was constantly working ,

Few time i give her monthly extra

Only go for live in maid and take their passport or idea card + any other important document...

If they leave, it's a big problem for them, especially foreign maids.

Unless you or or your wives/partners are totally disabled I suggest you move into the 22nd century and bend over, pick up the duster or mop and get on with it.

Is it just me but the idea that people with enough money to have large property also end up being lazy idle pricks who need maids, gardeners and drivers..?

I lived in Singapore for a short while and was appaled at the amount of lazy horrible local bitches that ordered their Filipino maids around like they were slaves. I was at one locals house and they had the maid switching on and off the toilet light and flushing it for them....

Bringing dirt poor people into your home and then finding it a surprise that they might steal some of your things spells one thing to me in LOS ...Som nom nha

being dirt poor, full of envy and living in a shoebox, like you [not so] Honourable Sir LonelyWolf, does not justify to call others, who (unlike you) can afford maids, gardeners and drivers to take care of their large property, "lazy idle pricks" or "horrible local bitches".

some of these people might pity you when they drive by and see you sitting on the steps of a 7/11 drinking angrily your Chang because you can't afford the few additional Baht for a reasonable beer. but if you greet them politely they might tell their driver to stop and send him to you to hand over a few Baht.

by the way, the 22nd century starts in about 87 years, 2 months and 9 days and "appalled" is spelled with "double L" laugh.png

"maybe even a smal tv" whoopsy doos you are so generous!

As for the suggestion you should keep her passport and other legal documents so she can't run away and steal your stuff, why not go the whole hog and chain her up after she's finished serving her master?

Jesus, some people dont have time to run around with a feather duster. Me and my wife are alone with a newly born son. I work all the hours god sends me on my laptop and she spends every moment of her day looking after our son. Apart from that we do get the odd few hours to ourselves to cook some food as we havent eaten all day or go get the shopping in. We dont have time to clean. To have someone come in your house and pay them MORE than they get working in a legal factory here in thailand you call it slavery? Get real. Any maid that comes here we dont mind if they have to bring their kid, the kid can sit and watch tv all day, play with the toys, drink our coke eat our sweets etc I dont mind. We buy food for our maid every time she comes and my wife is always friendly and they end up more like friends than employer worker. Maybe thats a problem. If they are late or need to leave early nothing gets said but if they dont do the job properly then there is no point them being here.

We had a new maid come last week, let us down the week before because she said her mother died so couldnt come, fair enough if true we said no problem come when your ready. Comes the following monday, before she said she had worked for many farangs before. She didnt know how to use half the things used to clean, was using wood polish on the tiled floor having to constantly ask my wife what to do.

My wife wanted to get rid but I said no give her a week first she might be ok. She didnt bother turning up on the Wednesday (she was going to get paid weekly so gave up her 400 baht also).

Now I think its pointless even trying to get another one.

So if you use a company to supply a maid, how much do you pay pr visit?

If you use a maid or not is up to you, for us it's convienent so why not, my wife and myself is not what you can call lazy persons, but have more interesting things to do.

maids provided by companies are quite expensive. in Pattaya the cost is between 500 and 1,100 Baht plus VAT for a 7-hour working day (no joke!). besides our two live-ins we have since years a company maid (the same one) once a week attending to our home.

inspite of the fancy price the company charges she is worth every Satang we pay. sad part of the story is that inspite of working hard and doing a professional job she earns much less than our live-ins, especially if one considers their additional benefits such as free food, free accomodation, medical expenses, cost of work permit, etc.

It's so easy to blow hot air when it's not YOUR stuff that's been stolen. Let's hear all about the pay and benefits you give your maid, how long you've had her, etc.

The Occupy Homeowners movement seems to have discovered the thread.

it's also easy to tell you that it's none of your business what our staff earns and what benefits they enjoy.
