Minimal, if any, jail time. Mark my words. It is my understand "Common Law" and "de facto" marriage is not recognized under civil; or legal proceedings in Thailand. But I tend to agree with you that the guy will see minimum jail time based on what has been reported. Very interesting, is this even for a white guy though? I lived in an efficiency apartment when at the office. I returned home unexpectedly one night, without calling ahead. I had one hell of a surprise. My Thai wife met me in the hallway with a loaded 12 gauge shotgun. Seems I did not hear her calling out, "Honey is that you?". I never did find out if she was seeing anyone. I always called her before and never arrived unexpectedly after that night! Sounds like she adapted to American culture rather well. She had never handled a firearm before she married me and I taught her how to shoot. Even though her father was a Thai Police officer. (the only poor one that I met in Thailand by the way). Can't blame the Thai guy in my opinion. I feel sorry for the Canadian guy that he let his emotions get the best of him but i certainly understand. Gotta love it. Sorry but with all the single girls here, or should I say "Available Girls", don't you see anything wrong in "Banging" some other guys wife while he is away supporting the family? Well I sure do. What the Canadian Man did was terribly wrong. No doubt! The Thai Man did not deserve this! But what the Thai Man did was wrong to. I have been to a house where someone was stabbed to death before...and trust me, there was blood everywhere, LAKES of blood... The human body has about 7 L average as far as I remember and with 50 stab wounds there must be something visible...btw, it was for sure not the knife they show first, otherwise he would look like a piece of meat, sorry. Furthermore, is it normal in Thailand that the Press walk into crimescenes and touch everything, before the police is finish there and the victim is in hospital for pathological research? I sued a Thai guy who slept with my Thai ex-wife (not ex at the time). I won my case AND got my damages paid..... Interesting story Simon. How much you talking roughly? Circumstances, yes, not do it in the house of the BF of your GF or GIG, if you are the PHUANOI! do it in your own house, or has the lawyer in his house, his own wife? Than go in a Hotel, rent another place. I had a similar experience, with a (regular) guy in my house in the night, with my GF and my children, I was later sentenced for "dangerous threats" in my home country. Sure, I was innocent, as the house was locked from inside and keys had been placed in the door locks, I was denied entry in my own house! I banged at the double glassed sleeping room door from the garden side with a rifle until at least one of the glasses broke. I did not go inside,as I feared the outcome, could traumatic my boys, as my other hand gun and my Police pump Gun was with them inside the house. More typical would be the 42 y/o financing a young Thai guy, or more accurately stated, the Canadian guy financing the young Thai guy. It's morally and ethically wrong to be having sex with someone else's girlfriend, but it's not illegal. No one deserves to die for those reasons and the defense of diminished responsibility due to a jealous rage should not even be allowed to be considered. It's premeditated murder from the facts. What does give me pause for thought is if this had been a Thai man catching a farang in a compromising position with his girlfriend and committing premeditated murder would he be in custody now? That's a sad and sorry truth. When I was a teenager I would have been murdered several times for fooling around with someone else's girl. It wasn't a nice thing to do, but I got smacked in the face for one of the 2 occasions I did something like this (It was 20 years ago!). It was very wrong to do, but the girls were pretty and it was put on a plate for me. I deserved the smack in the mouth I got. I would not deserve to be murdered for doing that. I'm a much more faithful person now, I might add. Lastly ....... THIS......HAS......TO.....STOP The man who killed him was identified as Mr. Macos Beyond, age 42, a Canadian engineer. Stabbed the guy 50 times,.. thats an awful lot of built up rage going on there,.. almost "beyond" belief! Stabbed 50 times? Not well engineered!! The news breaks of a murder and the first thing people are doing is making jokes about it. I'm sorry this behaviour is just not normal. Straight away? That's your first reaction? These 2 examples are from the first page! Why in your right mind would you make jokes and try to make some witty wordplay when faced with this news? I don't understand at all. There's many more similar jokes throughout the thread. I don't expect anyone to do anything about these posts as people can say what they want. I can voice my disgust though. I have noticed a real slow down of TV traffic and people actually posting this last year, myself included and it's seeing really mind-boggling posts of people joking about the murder and death of someone that stops me from wanting to come back here too. The constant one-upmanship and jokey attitude toward people dying, normally in horrible circumstances, makes absolutely no sense to me in any way. It literally happens in every news topic where someone has died normally on the first page and in the first few posts. There's always some "fun" "joke" "playful" post with clever "wordplay" "sarcasm" and "razor sharp wit." How about shut the <<Snip!>> up and keep your jokes to yourselves? Your insensitive comments and drastically misplaced humour are not wanted and are detrimental to TV and its quality as a whole. There's a time and a place to joke and immediately (or quickly) after the murder of someone is never the right time. (I seriously can't believe I have to be saying that sentence to other humans.) It seems obvious this guy is/was not in sound mental state to do such a thing. Thinking about it, as unfortunate as it is, let the Thai prison system have him, and get him out of society all together. Yep definitely not worth throwing away your life for, however not sure about the sound mental state comment? the guy is by the sounds of it a qualified and successful engineer, so probably not unstable.........he came home to find some guy banging his missus! so he lost his nut and had a mental. This Canadian guy should be feeling a little bit better about his current predicament and prospects of serving a reasonabley short stint in the Big House. Maybe. She was probably halfway down the Soi while her Canadian live-in was still performing overkill on the lawyer. Could it be that she was downstairs when he arrived home and had time and opportunity to make her escape? Dead people don't bleed and we don't know which stab wound may have killed him and what organ failure may have caused the death vs. the cause of death being bleeding to death. There is also plenty of blood underneath the body that is blurred and you can see the stab (not slash) wounds on the back of the shirt as well as blood on the knife on the counter. I didn't see any reporters touching anything but actually saw police escorting photographers and not letting anyone allowed to enter the room where the body is and where investigators are still collecting evidence. And yes, it is not uncommon in Thailand for press to be allowed to take pictures and video before the body is removed and the pictures often make the front page of the news but are usually pixelated.
