skills32
Her only crime is that she got caught out. This is not a one off, it happens every day in every place. Does any one think that celibacy can be bought off with money? True love is something that every one seeks but cannot find; if you think you have found it then 1. You are living in dream world or 2. You are one of the 1 in a million lucky ones or 3. You are living in a world of compromise. And that is the truth.

dighambara
This must have been one special 42 year old Thai women, to ones life in the rubbish and spend the rest of your life in a Thai prison. It seems obvious this guy is/was not in sound mental state to do such a thing. Thinking about it, as unfortunate as it is, let the Thai prison system have him, and get him out of society all together. HMMM...??? To me, it seems a very natural reaction Man comes home to find wife with another man - other man is dead - perfectly legal in Texas to kill both... DP25
ThaiRath says she told the Thai lawyer she had no BF or husband and the same to the Canadian. When he walked in the Thai guy got angry started hitting her. She then screamed that she did not know him ( the lawyer) and he was attacking her. The Canadian went feet first to defend his girlfriend............something he may regret for the rest of his life. Interesting twist. I wonder how long she'll stick with that story if the police go after her.
Thai at Heart
Common law marriages do not exist. There is no legal connection between the man and the woman. She was in the eyes of the law his girlfriend. She has no call on his estate, and he none on hers.
fish fingers
That everyone's discussing his money rather than the murder says alot about the boards views on the subject of thai women. So the view might be, if you are not the best looking dude and have money, stay single and buy a nice condo, for yourself.

arthurwait
Meanwhile, Ms. Patcharaporn was studying for a master’s degree at Ramkhamhaeng University, where she became acquainted with the Thai lawyer. Where does this leave all of those members who bang on and on about having girls with Master's degrees being so much better than those evil bar girls....? She doesn't have a masters degree. annabel
Maybe the Canadian guy thought something was up and decided on a surprise early return. Still, no way to handle the situation by killing someone. Agreed- and he is facing life in a Thai prison. Not a happy future. Controlling one's self is not always easy, but oh the consequences (of not doing so...) But HE IS COOPERATING .... so won't he also get a very very reduced sentence and maybe just a slap on the hand like many of the other nurder cases going on ... When you admit and offer no resistance and then cooperate and admit by Thai law you get a lot of leniency ... No...??

Nisa
I have a feeling there is plenty more to come out of this story. Like what? This particular news story seems to provide even more details than one would find in the western news like where she met the lawyer. When you admit and offer no resistance and then cooperate and admit by Thai law you get a lot of leniency ... No...?? Without much of any doubt at all he will get leniency if he cooperates, pleads guilty, shows remorse and attempts to compensate the family. Plus this sounds like a crime that occurred under great emotion and this too will be considered since it was not some planned execution or done to profit financially. Can only guess but he'll probably end up serving 3 to 5 years if he stays in Thailand to serve his sentence. If he transfers to a Canadian prison after sentencing he'll likely serve a longer sentence because he'll likely not be granted the time off that is typically given here for various reasons and when you transfer to your home country to serve your sentence your home country cannot grant pardons or early releases ... these have to come from the sentencing country. .His actual sentence in court, after reductions will probably be at most 7 to 10 years is my guess. It could be less and could be more but would suspect if anything it would be less give the circumstances and if he is guilty and does all the right things. flamesfan
2 unhappy people, 1 dead man...tragic story! Sure it happens elsewhere. I know a lot of girls in my homecountry, who have 3 or 4 boyfriends, takin' terms in helping her out, finacially! RIP the lawyer! And the lawyer didn't have a clue? -mel. A clue about what? that she had a boyfriend? (not a husband they weren't married) I know the Anglo-saxon Tabloids makes out having an affair is a crime these days but it's part of life, he should have been grateful he caught her before they were married and walked away. The ONLY reason he killed him is lose of face, the very same reason many ridicule the Thais for. Loss of face would be one hypothesis, but maybe there's something about the French-Canadian culture and/or his relationship with the GF that made her infidelity particularly inciting? Maybe he really had it in for lawyers and finding one with his GF put him over the top? The article said they had been together for 6 years. Maybe he hadn't been exposed to the concept of 'sunk costs'. Being a Canadian, you should know that the French Canadian men are totally different than the average Canadian man! Much more aggressive! My condolences to the family!

Popular Post rotorbreeze
As a Cdn I do feel pity for him, I too had found out of my thia wife having extra marital affairs while in Cdn with me! I ignored her fling but later back up in Mahasarakham it happened again! I left her and returned to Bkk. broken hearted. I walked away from house built, loss of personal belongings, just the cloths I could carry... I too went through the hell fire...hospitalized...had a christian Thai fellow spend the nights with me to prevent me from self harm! I returned back to Cdn telling my family what happened. During that time I felt a spirit that guided me not allowing self destruction or revenge now looking back I feel that this Cdn had the miss-fortune of the lower spirit to take hold of him and commit the crime. Now 50 stab wounds would appear that this spirit took full advantage of higher beings we are. Could this be a crime of passion...I know it maybe possible for a lower prison term. Well what is done is done. You may wonder what I am doing now...well semi-retired, living in Pattaya and enjoying sports, tennis, homemade meals and been very blessed with knowing a number of ladies, like a stray cat once ya feed them they are always at your feet, but once feed they seem to disappear in the night...it is hard to train cats so just let them go on their way..they know where the food is..so my advice is to feed lots of stray cats...maybe just maybe one will return proudly with a mouse carcass to share with YOU! I hope my reply to this topic and my experiences of similar problems are shared and noted for any one whom is in a relationship will note that we are not alone...keep good Karma, when you have extra give...when some one is down lift them up...just let the spirit of love and light guide you...it works! The Spirit guided me through my dark days. I trust this little paragraph will brighten up this sad topic...Love Ron

Jayroo
What an idiot. Not worth ruining your life over some slag. He would have been better off kicking out the 42 year old girlfriend and replacing her with a 21 year old. He should have replaced her with TWO 21 year olds to make up for her 42 years! What! and get double the headache? may be worth it for newer models!
