Government forces nervously await 'D-Day'

With numbers like

80,000 Police / 23,000 Police Volunteers / 200,000 Red Shirts

being put forth, they are getting ever closer to Normandy's figures.

.

The fear is that it ends up like Dunkirk.

Who are these 23,000 "police violent-ers " ?

She's a billionairess in her own right. Same as her nephew and nieces.

That alone could mark her as a potential kidnap target.

Same as just being an ex-PM could mark anyone else to be a potential assassination target.

What's lacking in both of these specific instances of the Shinawatras is that pesky thing called proof.

Well exactly. So if someone makes a threat against say the head of CP they call an ISA.

Perhaps there has been. Hopefully, the National Police Chief will clarify later today which prominent figures have been targeted as apparently the expanding conspiracy now includes those under threat besides Yingluck.

Police Major-General Piya Uthayo, National Police Spokesman, said the National Police Chief will today explain every step of the ISA enforcement including protection for the homes of prominent figures.

"Why would anyone ever think, that kidnapping PM-Yingluck would derail the government, in any way ?"

Ever heard about Patty Hearst ?

"gained notoriety in 1974 when, following her kidnapping by the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA), she ultimately joined her captors in furthering their cause."

Prof Friedrich Hacker was psychological adviser during the whole period.

He wrote a book "Freiheit Die Sie Meinen" (freedom how they they think it is)

Very interesting read!

Thailand can be, to some extend, compared with that analysis.

We should not forget that any instance of violence and crime stems always from bad apples from both sides of the fence, actually where reconciliation was never an issue.

PM working as usual at Govt House, not attending Senate debate in Parliament

as usual, indeed.

.

I hear the latest Jimmy Choo exhibition is taking place i none of the conference rooms at Government house.

I heard the same thing and the room is next to the room hosting the Jack Daniels exhibition. Must be why we haven't seen DP Chalerm today.

Are you implying that the DPM Chalerm is drunk? Surely not, its just medicine for an ear infection that has persisted for the last 30 years, is it not?

Kidnap the PM?cheesy.gif and the propaganda keeps on spinning. Let's see they have information that says that there is a plot to kidnap the PM but haven't made the move to completely thwart the alledge kidnapping plot but have put in place enough security for a (rolling stones concert) to prevent the kidnapping of Government house/parliment. I just hope that the alledge kidnappers bought enough shampoo, makeup and wardrobe's for the lucky lady.

I hear that Jatuporn is about to announce, that they also plan to hold satanic-rituals at the small political meeting, and start a nuclear-war with a middle-eastern country whose name begins with 'D' or 'I', but I too may be wrong. laugh.png

Seriously, why is the current government so very alarmed, by a relatively-small rally like this ?

Have they heard something (apart from ridiculous claims of plots to kidnap the PM) which worries them, or can they simply not manage to accept any criticism at all, in line with the Big Boss's similar inability/instability ? rolleyes.gif

No - they're not scared, but more cunning and clever than you think. Put some red agitators in the crowd, stir up trouble, crack down hard with the poilce, cause even more violence, bring in the 23k "volunteers". Well, obviously need to outlaw rogue organizations that cause such trouble, and give the government more power to deal with them. You see the direction - police state, no right to mass protest, only government support rallies allowed, censor everything, all leads to the one party state dream headed by dear leader. This blue print has been used so many times in history. I guess this government figures they can tell the people anything and be believed.

A bit of overkill by the ISA, a bit of musle flexing ,as a show of weakness. How can they kidnap the PM when she is on KPN , attending the Fullmoon Party ,she has been advised to be out of town , and in disguise. The Finance Minister has advised that this monthly beach party, where thousands of revellers, every month, get off their heads, contributes atleast 30% to the thai GDP annually and is amust to witness !

I guess this will be the latest in face saving. I have to have police guards to protect me from kidnapping - otherwise people will think I'm not important enough!

Still, gives the BiB something better to do instead of scamming drivers and tourists. Mind, the Reds might get jealous.

It is a new name for old things and tricks. The Yellowshirt movement seems to have a new name every year. One year they call themselves the Multicolor movement, the next Pitak Siam. The bottom line is that we deal with a Neo fascist movement that will do anything to annul the wishes of the Thai voters. At first they figured out a system of appointed senators, than they came up with the idea of making the vote of a cheap academic worth more than that of a rural farmer but in the end we are dealing with people of Chinese descendants who do not give a dam_n about Thailand but who wants to mimic a Chinese system in which the rights of the poor come last.

Kidnapping a PM or an attempt to do so, occupying transportation systems or airport might force the army into committing a great crime again and taking over power. It is no secret that the <snip> Prem is a sponsor of the movement. Prem is celebrated as a great PM but only by the elite, for the rest of the country he is just a man who was never ever elected.

If Yingluck is wise she would take away children of yellow shirts who bring them to a demonstration, they would certainly try to use children as a human shield against police action and take a page out of Suthep's playbook. a life firing zone might do.

useless people

But those are within the own ranks.

Speaking of usless people I wonder why we have not heard from Jutaporn?

He'll be too busy marshalling the 23k police support volunteers. Such public spirit! And, after his cabinet disappointment too.whistling.gif

I heard that the hide out by the kidnappers was the top floor of the 4 Seasons. The added benefits are the close proximinity to Central World for maintaining the wardrobe and accessories, commensurate with the position of course.

ANTI-GOVT RALLY

Govt trusts police to control protest

The Nation

Worries Army will favour protesers; ISA enforced in some areas of city

Because the police favor the Red Shirts already... this is well known

Well that does cut both ways. The army sat firmly on their hands during the PAD. Everyone knows on who's side these two organisations sit.

In a demcoracy, doesn't the army swear alegiance to the head of state? Whilst the police must be impartial and uphold and enforce the law and support an indedpendent judiciary and rule of constitution. Police normally swear an oath of alegiance to do this. Allowing military and police to deviate from this seriously detracts from democracy. Sadly, the police displayed abysmal behaviour in 2010, and it was left to the army to restore order.

Well you are screwed there then - she is far from Wise.

So you are saying the Yellows are not allowed to bring children to the protest? Bit of a double standard i feel as the Reds were allowed to do that! Considering PTP and The Red Shirt movement's campaign slogan of being against double standards, they seem to be guilty of many double standards so far. Hypocrisy at its finest!

She should be scared because the red shirts believe the black shirts who shot at soldiers from the red shirt ranks were actually planted there by the Democrats. None of them have been arrested yet. So they are all still out there waiting to serve their real masters by provoking another blood bath. The guy who drilled Seh Daeng is also still out there.

UPDATE:

Pitak Siam pledges non-violent protest against government

By Digital Media

BANGKOK, Nov 23 – Thailand’s anti-government Pitak Siam group reaffirmed that its rally tomorrow will be peaceful and more than 500,000 protesters are expected to turn up at the rally site.

Pitak Siam group spokesman Air Marshal Watchara Ritthakanee said the group’s rally at the Royal Plaza on Saturday and Sunday will be non-violent and that the movement will not move the crowd to Government House or Parliament.

Air Marshal Watchara however said as 500,000 people are expected to turn up at the Royal Plaza, the protesters may expand the rally to roads surrounding the rally site.

Meanwhile, police have stepped up security in and around Government House as the cabinet announced enforcement of the Internal Security Act (ISA) in three districts of Bangkok until next Friday.

Five roads were closed today ahead of the Saturday protest, paralysing traffic in the area. For their convenience, commuters have been advised to avoid the routes surrounding the rally site until the protest ends.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra entered Government House this morning to record her weekly televised address which will be aired tomorrow morning with secretary-general of the National Security Council Lt-Gen Paradon Phatthanathabutr and national police chief Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew, amid tight security. Reality check:

Multi Color, Yellow Shirts and Pitak Siam...have complete different leader. I think the only similarity is that they are against Thaksin.

Of Chinese descent: Thaksin, Samak, Yingluck, Abhisit, Banharn, Surayud etc etc who is not Chinese descent. And you are telling here, that someone is evil because someone came from China 5 Generations ago? Little bit racist we are, aren't we???

An alliance to restore democracy after the Thaksin bought his way to power and tries to make Thailand his private property, is neo fascist? I would recommend to google the meaning of fascism....

Prem....no comment on that.....

"Being a democracy is not only about exercising one's freedom. The rule of law must also be observed and obeyed. In exercising one's rights and freedoms, one must not impinge on the rights and freedoms of others," she said.

But blocking half the city for weeks and setting fire to Central World is fine, no worries there....

Heavens forbid I would imply such nonsense. We all know our DPM aka (I fled Thailand once to avoid prison and I'll do it again if necessary but I am an honest man) would never drink on the job. He just might be the host to the JD officials for investment purposes. Edited by Pimay1

As many police as protesters? How would one say....a little paranoid?

And where were these highly effective police when the airport was overrun a few years back? Cost me a tidy sum to finally get out of the country.

Clearly there is a lot of faith regarding the police's capabilities.
