Info Needed On Driving From Phuket To Koh Phangan

Featured Replies

Only Raja ferry does this crossing

Donsak to Phangan 7.00 10.00 14.00 16.00 18.00

Price 620 bht

the first and last boat of the day are often full and many times the others are too. it can be a total nightmare getting to KPN. i've spent the night sleeping in the car, getting drunk with truck drivers many times in my 8 years in that place. its so great phuket has a bridge.

also, the best way to donsak is on the 44 road. it misses surat all together is dead straight, has no lights and is very fast.

turn right at plai phraya about 10km for the left turn for surat then turn left in town at plai phraya

the trick is knowing when to join the main highway as the locals don't sign it because they don't want phuket traffic coming through their village

Seatran only go to Koh Samui.

The situation of Rajaferry is now not so dramatic.

Enough arrive (with car) a couple of hours before and usually no problem to get a ticket. With bike always get in.

Unless you really need to take car to KPG go seatran to Samui much easier.Ferry leaves every hour and if you call ahead can book and get member card.

I do this trip every 4- 5 weeks from Tao to Phuket (car in Samui).

44 by far the best route, get a sat nav some easy short cuts to be had.

Above all don't be fooled into thinking great roads easy drive, its still Thailand and many times we have had some near misses. Normally with Idiots driving in fast lane the wrong way,or fishing of the bridges from cars again in fast lane.

I have only done at night once never again, door to door Samui to Phuket (south) average 6 hrs including ferry.

Have fun drive safely
