The UN Central Emergency Response Fund said on Tuesday that it donated US $5.3 million to the ongoing relief effort for those affected by the Arakan State violence. About 36,000 people who have been displaced by inter-communal violence will benefit from the fund, which will be used to carry out activities in health, nutrition, shelter, water, sanitation and food. Last week, the UN said it needed another $41 million for a revised response plan to provide urgent humanitarian relief for some 115,000 people, who have been displaced in the western state.
