Beautiful beaches, beautiful smiles on Thai faces, great shopping, fantastic food, I mean who doesnt love Thai food?, and its so much cheaper than back home!

Its also a place that can trick the unaware tourist very easily. Hey, its happened to all of us , sure some wont admit to it, but it happens. Its happened to me.

So heres some tips to help make your holiday fantastic, safer, easier and more memorable!.smile.png ..

Dear OP,

Explain what are you looking for in Thailand and be honest and straight forward, should help to get some focused replies.

But remember, you'll need to sort the answers.

Its that time of the year when Thailands tourism booms...

First timers to Thailand dont know what to expect and look out for. What would you tell a first timer something they have gotta go see or what should they keep an eye out for as they perhaps are gonna get scammed...any tips, tricks and traps....thats all.

Unfortunately, most first timers come to TV only after they have made their first bad experience... at least that is my impression based on the newbie's questions on here ;)

Use the meter in that taxi.

Don't use jet skis.

Haggle in the market & learn to count in Thai so you can offer a lower price in Thai ;)

She loves your money more than you.

Drugs are for mugs here - that should be a slogan :P

Read Thai Visa !!

With respect to the OP ... we had nearly this exact same topic titled It's Approaching High Season In Thailand....what's Your Do's And Don'ts For First Time Visitors? less less then a month ago in the General Forum.

How is this question different?

No disrespect intended to the OP, krisb (he's also an Aussie ... biggrin.png )

Id forgotten about that David.

I was watching a show last night about scams in Thailand and thought perhaps its an idea for TV.

The show had the tuk tuk scam where they get the tourist and take them to jewellery shops, bad luck if you didnt wanna go.

Then it talks about how the tuk tuk drivers work for the jewellery store mafia and so on.

As one poster already said, people that have already been burned usually visit this site. Too late for some.
