[Myanmar] President Postpones Australia, New Zealand Visit

Burmese President Thein Sein has postponed his state visit to Australia and New Zealand, according to the state-run newspaper The New Light of Myanmar, which gave no details on the reason behind the decision. The president was due to begin his trip with a visit to Australia on Dec. 10. The Australian Associated Press quoted a spokesperson of Prime Minister Julia Gilliard, who said the trip had been moved back to “a mutually convenient time in 2013.†“The Australian government was advised late yesterday that the president would be postponing his visit to Australia owing to domestic commitments,†the official said.
