Does anyone know if Tesco or Big C carry liquid smoke? I hate to have to travel back to downtown just it alone, and wanting to make some jerky with new dehidrater.

I have seen it at Villa Sukhumvit 33 - a bit expensive IMO... but if needed...

I broke down and went into Bangkok to the Villa and got some! Everything in the Villa is expensive, but if you want import, not much for choices. I was hoping to find a closer choice than driving into all that traffic for small bottles!

Only seen it at Villa. Expensive, but that is the price for western supplies in Thailand. Try looking for canned green beans. Ha!

I always thought of liquid smoke as a masculine scent and always dabbed some about when preparing a bbq sauce...

then, as tutsi approached a comely miss: 'hey, get outta here with yer lumberjack shirt and absurd macho boots and leave the smoky odor fer the chicken...'

I don't use liquid smoke on all batches and like to vary. Some of the flavours, terraiki, Black pepper, tabasco glaze. cajun, honey with lemon, as wwell as steak sauce. Imarinate all for 24 hours in mix in refrigerator, then cook. I buy roasts in Villa, and mostly use top round as it is very lean and on sale a lot! Tomorrow making chicken jerky and then pork. It getting eaten as fast as I can make it, but only have a 4 tray dehidrater. Her family thinks I am crazy with things like electric beaters, electric oven, electric BBQ grill, coffee maker, electric wok, digital scales, stainless BBQ gas grill. I have a sice rack equalled only by big stores, so they get a taste of western all the time when they visit!

I have it on my list of things to get when I go back to Aus in a couple of months. The list keeps getting bigger and bigger. Including of course a 12kg wheel of Parmesan or Parmigiano-Reggiano in the small hand luggage bag - they always weigh the big one which has practically nothing, and you'd be surprised how much you can get into a laptop bag. It has the shelf life of an atom bomb, and usually last us just nicely for a year.
