American technology giant General Electric (GE) announced on Tuesday that its aeroderivative gas turbine technology has been selected for a new natural gas-fired power plant facility. GE said the plant will enter commercial service no later than the second quarter of 2013 and will produce about 100 megawatts. The company will supply two aeroderivative gas turbine-generators and technical advisory services for the plant, located in Ahlone Township, Rangoon. Independent power producer TOYO Thai Power Corp in Singapore is the owner and operator of the plant and will sell the power to Burma’s Ministry of Electric Power.
