Do You Have Turn-By-Turn Navigation With Google Maps For Ios?

I'm in the suburbs of Bangkok and there's no turn-by-turn options for the newly-released Google Maps in iOS6.01. Using an iPhone 5.

All I get is the 'preview' mode -- which ISN'T 'turn-by-turn'. Basically what turn-by-turn does is it gives you verbal (and visual) directions at every turn, automatically, based on your GPS location. You don't have to touch or swipe your phone screen for this.

"Preview" mode shows you the entire route, and you need to swipe to get from one turn to the other.

iOS 6 Maps has turn-by-turn on my iPhone. Google Maps doesn't.

Can anyone confirm this?

Standard Google maps on Android does not have turn by turn in Thailand so very unlikely that the IOS version would. But we can put a different unlocked version on if the phone is rooted.

Why not try Sygic. They have buy one get one free as a Christmas promo

AFAIK, Turn-by-Turn Navigation, with Spoken Assist & Rerouting for Google Maps is unavailable for Thailand, and many other countries. Some speculate that this is due to Google Maps not being detailed enough, or accurate enough. I'm not sure I think that speculation is accurate, but only a Google Product Manager could accurately address this issue.

That said, in the Android world it is fairly easy to hack Turn-by-Turn Navigation, with Spoken Assis & Rerouting for Google Maps to work here in Thailand. I actually find it to be superior to my Garmin nuvi unit, save lane assist. Obviously you need a data connection, although with another hack it is possible to cache 20 mile x 20 mile maps squares for off-line use.

Perhaps the coolest apps. are Earth, Streetview and Directions which have the BMTA, MRT, SRT, BTS, SARL integrated for Bangkok.

Just downloaded Waze, turn by turn voice navigation and social log in. Now any of your friends can post up traffic alerts and police check points in real time.

I use the following process, it has worked across ~ 7 different phones/tablets (I've been asked to hack other's people's devices) multiple times, just substitute the most current versions available, although I do keep a copy of 5.4 on hand for this process - not sure if the current version would work. Obviously the phone needs to be rooted.

1. In Titanium Backup, select Maps and make a backup.

2. Select Maps and wipe data, then uninstall.

3. Select Street View and wipe data, then uninstall

then i install the official version of GMAP 5.4.0.

4. In Titanium Backup, select Maps and make a backup.

5. Select Maps and wipe data, then uninstall.

6.Install Google Maps 6.x ownhere-resign.apk
