December 17, 201213 yr Author Popular Post £16 for a roast dinner and a bottle of Chang...my neighbour breaks his back in the rice field for 8 days for the same money....u must be havin' a laugh You are of course free to enjoy a plate of Pad Thai and a 50฿ Chang if you so wish. Many establishments in Chiang Mai provide just such culinary delights for many people with natty dreadlocks. The choice is yours. Personally I think 16 quid for a Western starter, main course and sweet plus 3 drinks, in the kind of Festive atmosphere that your hard working rice farmers wife couldn't hope to provide, is a steal! Merry Christmas! Cold Beer, Warm Atmosphere
December 17, 201213 yr 795 Baht!!! A very very merry Christmas and a prosperous new year to you....... Ps. I don't have dreadlocks. Edited December 17, 201213 yr by lsk

December 17, 201213 yr 795 Baht!!! So what.. if it's selling, it's selling. He's not running a charity for lonely farlangs. You could go to church; they're free. (Don't laugh, that's a serious suggestion. I might make it to one again this year.) Edited December 17, 201213 yr by WinnieTheKhwai
December 17, 201213 yr Would be there if I could, always a grand bit of nosebag. Don't think the cheapskates will be missed. Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Thaivisa Connect App
December 18, 201213 yr £16 for a roast dinner and a bottle of Chang...my neighbour breaks his back in the rice field for 8 days for the same money....u must be havin' a laugh So Pedr can take it that your neighbour won't be there then ? unless your going to treat him of course !
December 18, 201213 yr Always fun on Xmas day but what about the cold cuts on Boxing day which I really enjoyed a couple of ears ago?
December 18, 201213 yr Pedr puts on a great meal, at a fair price, in a great environment and the fools still can't resist a cheap and stupid shot.... Ignore it Pedr !!!
December 18, 201213 yr Yeah, Pedr ignore it! It's a very fair price for a meal with so many imported items, generous portions and alcohol. Not to mention the excellent service and jolly atmosphere. Some cowardly idiots just like to stir up trouble for people brave enough to identify themselves in anoymous forums. I seriously doubt nattydread would make the same stupid comment to you directly in person. Oh, Mr. Nattydread -- Pedr won't be "havin' a laugh" on Christmas day. He'll be too busy making sure all his guests have a great time!
December 18, 201213 yr I'm guessing it's out of NattyDread's price range. Perhaps someone is doing the Bt99 Eat-all-you-want Noodle buffet somewhere.

December 18, 201213 yr Compared to 1500-2000 at some hotels, 795 including some alcoholic bevs, seems fair to me. Power to the Pedr.
December 18, 201213 yr £16 for a roast dinner and a bottle of Chang...my neighbour breaks his back in the rice field for 8 days for the same money....u must be havin' a laugh haha natty dread good that you are caring about your neighbour.for 8 days he would earn 2000 baht if he is a male and 16000 baht if a female These are the new increased wages which went into operation at this years rice harvest for farm labourers. The man wouild also have a bottle o whisky after each shift or ample bottles of whiskies actually to keep the men happy and withouy thse offerings you would find it hard to find a worker. Both female and males would be fed a lunch supplied by the person who is hiring them as you stated they earned a wage. If they are are harvesting the rice field themselves for themselves ,like i do there is no wage only like you said a pretty sore back.

Fair enough, each to their own. I can just imagine that buffet full of "Bah Humbugs". Edited December 19, 201213 yr by Chicog
December 20, 201213 yr So you think eating reasonably priced Xmas fayre in a cheerful pub environment .......... We are talking about the same pub, aren't we?

Actually considering those places are charging 1400+ THB p/p, The Olde Bell sounds like a bargain! I've been there once just recently and it seemed like a decent place. I would go again.
December 20, 201213 yr turkeys aint cheap here. I once attended a christmas dinner do at a place near grace school. cant remember the name. But do remember it was mediocre and embaressing as we were the only table indulging in the devils sauce.
December 20, 201213 yr So you think eating reasonably priced Xmas fayre in a cheerful pub environment .......... We are talking about the same pub, aren't we? Yes we are. I've had Xmas nosebag there a couple of times and it's excellent. And no, I have nothing to do with the owner.

December 20, 201213 yr im a bar humbug kind of chap myself dont celebrate the birthday of fictional people but if you are into the whole crimbo thing then the old bell would probably be the best place to go its a british family pub to be honest its the only one in town as far as im concerned i myself will be taking my mate for a pizza and looking forward to new years eve much better and has more meaning to it but enjoy your day if you are goin to celebrate it good will to all men and not just on the 25 th
December 20, 201213 yr Author is ther going to be a sing song,or is that mor for hofmanay,if not what songs wil be played The sing-song is optional and happens by osmosis, its not part of the 'programme' but we pay all the old favourites 'White Christmas' 'I wish it Could be Christmas' by Wizzard 'Merry Christmas Everybody' by Slade or Chicory Tip and all the other old favourites! A couple of years ago everyone decided they wanted to sing Rod Stewart songs so a happy hour or so was spent singing along with Rod!! By the way there are only 12 tickets left for Christmas Day at midday and only 18 left for the evening sitting, so do drop in and buy your tickets over the weekend as its first come first served form now on!
