just booked my flight on Kuwait airways london to bangkok. It was fairly cheap £690 return , but i have just looked at some reviews online ,and some are not very favourable. Anyone had any experiance with this airline. . .Thanks in advance john . .

I was working in Kuwait for a while and ended up paying the extra to fly with anyone else but Kuwait. Sorry to say you get what you pay for. If the service was OK then being dry wouldn't be a problem.

Safety is okay but they have a tendency to cancel flights, and its been that way for a long time. I used to live there and experienced first hand what they are like. They have certainly got better but there aren't many airlines in that region that are worse. Yemenia is certainly worse. Have never flown from bkk with them. You might be alright if its one of their premier routes but if I were you I wouldn't get into the habit of flying with them. Gulf air are usually in the same price bracket and definitely more reliable.

Used them 3 times over 10 years. Average is how I would describe the experience. Delayed only once when a toilet exploded.....could have been worse! Would use again if a cheap deal came up. Only real downside is up to a 5 hour stopover in Kuwait airport. Not alot to do there.

If the route i one of their premier routes you might be alright. If you have a long stopover, there are two lounges which you can use, or at least there were four years ago. $25 was what I paid I think

Looks like ive made a mistake. . Usualy use oman air fantastic airline. . This time couldnt get under £900. .

I certainly wouldn't have called £690 fairly cheap either !!

Plenty of London Bkk on offer from £500-£540 and if you catch the right days of the week around £480 on Vietnam Airways,,,,,

When you want to stay for more than 3 months the price goes up ,yeah i found £500 flights but thats for two weeks. .I had to travel on christmas day to get it down to that price

No it is 100% no alcohol as far as I know, the whole country unlike Egypt is Dry.

We flew on Kuwait airlines a few years ago. While the service and cabin crew were fine, the equipment was quit old and often had problems, ie; headphone or TV screen not functioning properly. The layover in Kuwait is also a bummer, although on our return from NY they put us up in the airport hotel and even fed us. If the price was right I might fly them again.

Used it twice to fly to Manila.

Aircraft was old and worn out

Service was ok, nothing to brag about

My Tv did not work both times and both times was advised they can not do anything.

Food was eatable but nothing to brag about again.

A rather very mediocre airline with below mediocre service and equipment

Once, in 2007.

I have a horrible memory of a dry sandwich at Kuwait airport being provided whilst I waited the 5hrs for my connection. there is absolutely nothing to do in that horrible dark airport.

Never again.

Flew back in Oct12, was crazy to see the flight Attendants scrambling to move passengers to seats that were not broken for take off and landing, both flights they gave up, not enough seats in good shape, the landing was so rough and we hit so hard the Attendent cringed....

You always assume Kuwait would offer excellent facilities for obvious reasons but many Oil Rich nations have/had poor Airports........Etihad only had the new facility around 2009 in Abu Dhabi, Qatar similar with Bus Connections from the terminal (is the new one open ?) and Oman not that special although I cannot vouch myself for that one..........

One thing Kuwait have over all the other Gulf based carriers is crew with major attitude, surly and rude...........

Used them once in 2008. It was once too many. Truely awful.

The staff were all rude and aggressive. I think someone needs to remind them they are there to serve the customer, not have a problem with them for asking for their assistance. It was the same with everyone.

Most the IFE units on the plane were broken. The plane just looked dirty inside. The plane kept creaking. Seats were broken. Food was rubbish.

The food on the stop over was worse and all supervised by a throughly unpleasant man with a major attitude problem aggresively instructing you "You have one of these, one of these, one of these". And if you didn't have "one of these" he would moodily shout "why you not have one of these"?.

In short, the planes are past it, the airport food is awful and their staff are foul mannered.

ah the charming middle east hospitality

I once took Qatar airways and already found it so bad I can't even imagine Kuwait as Qatar actually has good reviews. The only good airline is etihad even if I think the service degraded a lot in the last years. I now only try to fly european majors with direct flights out of BKK

May I ask why ?

Oman Air is in my view one of the better airlines and if the price is right I would not hesitate to use them and the reviews on Skytrax support my claim.

BTW have flown : Etihad, Gulf, Emirates, Qatar, China Airlines, Eva, KLM, Royal Brunei and of course Oman.

I always seem to get the older planes in the fleet when I fly them and there was no entertainment (as in personal tv) on the last long-haul flight I took in 2010 to Bangkok from Muscat. The food is always average. I've had issues with luggage to final destination and not being able to book through to final destination before. I'd fly Emirates or Etihad before Oman Air, the price is not much different.

I don't think they are a bad airline, I just don't think they are fantastic.

Well I beg to differ. Have flown them 3 times now and every flight has been on the newish A330's. Have to admit though that my first flight was in 2011.

Thanks for your reply thumbsup.gif

No worries. I still use them locally in the Middle East, they have good daily services to GCC countries and the staff are nice smile.png
