India will open its third diplomatic mission in Burma in the Arakan State capital of Sittwe, The Hindu reports. Burma agreed to the move during a meeting between Indian Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid and his Burmese counterpart Wunna Maung Lwin over the weekend. Sittwe will be the starting point of a new route to northeastern Indian, currently connected to the rest of India only by a narrow land corridor. Vessels will travel from Sittwe to Kaletwa on the Kaladan River, and goods will be transported by road from there to the international border 60 km away.
