February 17, 200620 yr VAT refund - seems so simply no? But is it still a scene out of he movie Brazil? I'm thinking about buying an iPod here due to return policy - but want the refund. Ist it as simply as it should be: buy item (Bxx,xxx??? over the course of one DAY or WEEK?) -get paperwork-airport in 30 days-present paperwork and reciept-GET THE CASH MONEEE on the spot.
February 17, 200620 yr If you're going abroad anyway, chances are that ipod will be cheaper there. For warranty it doesn't matter much anyway.
February 17, 200620 yr It's actually pretty simple. The guy's 'inspecting' your goods don't give a .... and just stamp the paperwork. The one's issuing the refund are civil-service slow and not particularly bright, but I've always got the cash.
February 17, 200620 yr I've only done it once, March last year. No problems, didn't take long, and they didn't even asked to see what I was claiming the refund for.
February 17, 200620 yr The only time I tried it the shop said they'd have to add 8% to the bill as they never paid the VAT in the first place, then I could get the 7% refund. Go figure, as they say.
February 17, 200620 yr It only works if you have a tourist visa. That's what the rules say. But you know how closely LOS follows rules.......
February 19, 200620 yr Author thanks, ill be on tourist visa - VISA or 30day stamp ok as well "visa" actually, i do think wty does matter - buy here or in states... id read somewhere that apple is offering a no hassle return policy OUTSIDE the usa (units purchased). dont know if its limited time period and yes, much cheaper in states (us100<, plus no tax).
