The Hit And Run Restaurant "review" Thread

That is great news , we need it!    If they have an Indonesian chef chances are good the food will be authentic. I will go there for a Gado-Gado .  Just to test if they can make it as I remember from Bali.

It's on their menu for 139 baht  . At least 50 dishes has been named in the menu so can't wait.

To add last Wednesday the Indonesian chef had a day off so that might be weekly. They can't do the Indonesian menu when he's not there.

I was disappointed that they didn't have any dishes with tempeh.

Keep in mind that that website menu does not match their printed menu exactly.

But of course gado gado is on it.

Don't expect as good as in Bali.

I found a new restaurant selling Vietnamese food as Nem nuan and noodles, but it's on the dark side at Non prue intersection.

All dishes are very nice and sold maximum 100 thb. They also have steak and Thai food, but best of all, they grow their hydro vegetables on the spot. People that we can really call nice and not ridiculous like the supposed vietnamese restaurant on central pattaya.

I like vietnamese food and healthy salads in a very nice place, and sold at a very low price, so I am sure to go again.

Curry House

2nd Road

Just south of Dosa Hut

Some changes afoot with this restaurant.

There is a FOR SALE sign and now also offering a buffet from 5 pm for 199.

Not sure if it's any good but I reckon it's a transition thing.

I did eat there one time and wasn't impressed, but if you're looking for a non-tour group Indian buffet, there it is.

Muslim type restaurants, Pattaya-wide.

The annual month long Islamic Ramadan thing which has a different schedule every year is now over.

It's involves fasting all day for the entire period.

You may have noticed many Muslim type restaurants of various nationalities either fully closed or open only at night.

They should all be open again by now.

Some of my regular places are in this category.

I'll try again:

Cala La Pasta Restaurant Location

If that doesn't work, here's a map and if that doesn't get you here's the gps coordinates (12°55'35.1"N 100°53'24.9"E):

Thanks for the review. Noticed this place last week as the gf uses the laundry opposite but no idea of its pedigree. Will give it a whirl :licklips:

BEEFEATER RESTAURANT AND PUB.

This is just off 2nd Road on Soi Diana (the soi that is at the side of Kiss restaurant). Coming from Beach Rd on a bus, get off at Mikes Shopping Mall and walk through to 2nd Rd.

I ordered a 250 Gramme Ribeye steak, cooked rare, price 765 Baht. There was a choice of sides included in the price and I went for the green salad. Also included was a medley of roasted vegetables. The steak was excellent, cooked as ordered and extremely tender. Service was very efficient and polite. No pudding today, will try the creme brulee at 150 Baht next time.

This was a marginally better steak than the tenderloin I ate at Lone Star 10 days ago. The difference in price is about 500 Baht. What did I get for that? Well, there is more of a formal atmosphere; all the staff wore uniforms, linen napkins instead of paper and the food was served up more stylishly. I wore a shirt; good shorts and sandals, same as all the other customers in the place. I did go just after opening at 4pm.

I knew it was expensive before I went in, so I have no complaints about the cost. I will return.

RECCOMMENDED.

Eaten there a few times in the past but don't remember paying that much for a steak - was that the imported NZ or Oz one?

Yes, topt, imported NZ. Fillet was more expensive. I prefer ribeye; a bit more fat for flavour.

Any recommendations for a good Lebanese place in Pattaya?

Is Israeli food close enough?  If so, then Jasmine in Soi Buakow (same road that leads to Pattaya-Central Hospital) is great!  I just ate hummus with caramelized onions, great pita bread and a tomato-cucumber salad.  Really delicious food.

Jasmine Restaurant on Soi Buakhaow, a few meters from Soi 15.

Although I haven't eaten there and wouldn't know good Lebanese food from bad, they do a pretty fair job of trying to welcome you in.

Palace Restaurant at Central Festival on the 4th floor. They can be googled and they also have a Facebook page.

Yes, they're on eatigo.com but I wouldn't say it's the best in town.

That would be ANWAR on THIRD road, if it's still there, which I think it is:

Sadly, my very favorite little Lebanese gem, Lebanese Gourmet, which was located in the current BOLLYWOOD KURRY location, closed for lack of support.

Not on the menu but available there are very good sautéed mushrooms. They go great with the steaks.

Oriental Trattoria

2nd road and Soi Yamato

Soft opening of a multicuisine restaurant.

For now only pizza and pasta.

Promotion going now for a month or two.

Pizzas 180

Pastas 90

Serious looking pizza oven

Coming later and of more interest to me a pan Asian menu including hard to find Malaysian food.

I assume there won't be a massive number of choices for each national cuisine.

Also some choices for German, Russian, and American. But not yet.

Yes I know it sounds like a tourist restaurant trying to do too much so skepticism is well founded but I intend to definitely check it out for a bargain pasta and the Pan Asian menu when it happens.

Hope springs eternal.
