This is great. Not only are the locals bold enough to have a shoot out right around the corner from the police station the other day but they are bold enough to target the police station directly. I love it.

Great reporting too, "The unknown shooter may have been a drunk police officer"

"Great....I love it"???? .... the zenith of Pattaya humanity. sick.gif Have you really thought through what you are extolling....gun crime...violence.... attempted muder? I doubt it.

You don't recognize sarcasm?

Ditto - your sarcasm was obviously not recognized by Brodie.

Pattaya itself is suffering a slow, but sure death. Given the almost daily robbery, assault and murder of tourists ... and its overall sleeze factor ... my days of visiting that fair city are way over. And I'm not the only one. In fact, I tell all tourists I see to stay clear and go somewhere else less dangerous.

There are thousands of people in Pattaya who are disgusted with the Pattaya Police. I am surprised that there have been no arrests of police officers for corruption, since that special unit moved into Pattaya from Bangkok.

Does the Pattaya Police extort money from merchants and business owners in Pattaya for "protection"? Someone said all of the merchants in the Tipp Plaza tent city must pay 70 baht a month per stall to the Police. Maybe someone is getting tired of paying?

The "investigating officer" did not collect spent shells, he collected spent casings, big difference, and indicates an automatic was used. Shoot drug traffickers, tourists, each other and now a police station. Why was a "drunken, disgruntled police officer" involved, not getting enough from the monthly bribe take ?

Gun crime alcohol and trigger happy thai's go hand in hand as it does now seem to be endemic here...the Xmas party at Chonburi for Auto Alliance workers car factory is a prime example and ended with some 30 people being injured, gunshots being fired and an homemade grenade being launched...that's with 4000 staff being there!"We have incidents like this every year "quoted a local police officer...draw your own conclusions on where it's heading!

So no video cameras outside the police station then? coffee1.gif

Or they are too embarrassed to admit that they weren't in operation. ?

More likely that it was in operation but they would rather not leave to chance someone viewing what was on the 'tape' the previous few hours.

When someone starts to spray police station with bullets, it might be time to start taking things very very seriously.

People keep overlooking one fact. They didn't spray the police station, they sprayed the commanders office, located behind the police station. This was not anti police violence this was a message to a specific person. Don't forget to consider the Russians in this. They seem to be behind more and more of the violent crime in that filthy snake pit named Pattaya.

1. So you think "hoping" to kill commander of police is different to shooting just at police?

2. Please show me some evidence of so called "Russians" being behind violent crimes?

3. Have you been anywhere in Pattaya but Walking Street and soi 6?, are you actually aware that Pattaya has more streets than just Walking Street and soi 6?

The investigating officer collected several spent bullet shells that had fallen at the scene.

So it shouldn't be hard to establish if one of their officers had fired their gun recently? I wonder if they have the equivalent of an internal affairs Department in the Royal Thai police?

LOL - yeah, like they're going to be sure and use their police-issue weapon...

Pattaya's downward spiral from a 'budget brothel' into a 'violent brothel'. Many farang residents have left whilst others are considering attractive alternatives which offer sun & sex - on a budget. Bali, Batang, Manila are places to which people have moved. With choices and budget airlines the world is smaller - something which police/govt in Thailand have not quite woken up to.

I do feel sorry for businesses in Pattaya who have invested in what is now a corrupt, crime-infested 3kms x 3kms area. Tiny for policing if only we did not have institutionalized corruption mixed with ineptitude. Businesses are complaining that tourist numbers have been down in 2011 and again in 2012. Maybe the penny will drop when it remains down in 2013 and 2014.

Another "normal" week in Pattaya. Looking back to the last 8 days - we had a shooting on Beach Road Soi 7 & 8, followed by a shooting at Banglamung and a separate shooting on Third Rd, 2 Russians were raped & robbed, the police dept was raked by gunfire and in this tiny 3kms x 3 kms stretch of land several dozens gang fights, accidents, suicides and accidental deaths. What a mess.

Meanwhile the mayor and police never stop commending themselves and high five-ing. Having police & govt. officials with little or no education, a corrupt mindset and inept approach are a toxic cocktail. Welcome to Pattaya today.

"Comment" that includes content. I'd forgotten about that...

Shots Fired at Offices of Newly Promoted Police Commander in Pattaya

shot.jpg

Pattaya: The office windows of local City Police Superintendent were shot at over the New Year period.

Col. Suwan Cheawnawinthawat, who was not in his office at the time, is said to have been shocked by the shooting which may have been carried out by a fellow policeman with a grudge.

The dark tinted office windows were shot at several times and it was only due to New Year activities that the Colonel was not in his office as the attack took place. Specialists investigated the scene and reported back to the authorities, having found several spent bullet cases and taken them as evidence.

Pattaya Police Officer under investigation following shooting at Colonel’s apartment

police-3.jpg

PATTAYA:--A Senior Sergeant Major who is currently undergoing disciplinary action after he refused to comply with newly enforced regulations imposed by the new Pattaya Police Chief is suspected of shooting a 12 bore shotgun in the direction of the Colonel’s apartment which is located at the rear of Pattaya Police Station.

The original incident is thought to have occurred in the early hours of New Year’s Day. Attempts to cover-up the story were unsuccessful leading journalists to report on the incident early on Wednesday morning.

Police Colonel Suwan claimed that the incident was witnessed by other officers who often use the area at the rear of the station to eat and smoke cigarettes. The officer, who is thought to have been in a drunken state, is accused of being armed with a 12 gauge shotgun and fired multiple times at the windows of the Colonel’s apartment

Now that's interesting. Not surprising, but interesting. Interesting that it was actually put into the news article.

Provincial Police Commander intervenes in Pattaya Police shooting incident

PATTAYA:--During Thursday there were some developments in the case of a Police Senior Sergeant Major who is thought to have shot at the apartment of the station chief in the early hours of New Year’s Day in a drunken rage.

The officer has now been named as Police Senior Sergeant Major Tippasit who lived in the Police Living Quarters at the rear of Pattaya Police Station with his wife and child. They are now reported to have moved out at the request of the Station Chief, Police Colonel Suwan who we interviewed on Thursday to find out more.

He confirmed that since he arrived at the Police Station he had repeatedly clashed with the officer who was unable to adapt to his style of working. The officer was already the subject of disciplinary action when the incident occurred.

So, if you just say "im sorry", then there is no problem shooting along the streets of Pattaya, or the police station? Is that for everyone, or just the police? If its for everyone, I would like to say "im sorry", before hand, so If I shoot at someone, this will cover it!
