Access To Bank Ac When In Hospital

Featured Replies

Hi all may be some body can help with this.

There is a Mate of ours that has had a stroke and is laid up in hospital.

Any way he is Insured with a Thai company and his limit has run out and the company wants him to pay first.

He has a Bank Account here in his own name but can not access it to get the money out as he in a bad way can not talk or move yet.

He is Married to a Thai is there any way she can get the money to the hospital or is there any other way this can be done.

regards

Can't money be transferred with the ATM card?

Thai bank allow transferring of money through the ATM machine.

Assuming the wife doesn't have the access code for an ATM transfer (with your friend being incapacitated), several other questions come to mind:

1) Since they're married, one might hope they have a joint account--can you confirm with her on that?

2) Is there a Power of Attorney in existence?

3) Can you check with a legal source (for example, some sponsors here on TV) to see if a spouse has any legal access to a non-joint account? If so, what is the procedure?

4) Can you check with his bank, and hope for a customer-friendly customer service person who might give you pointers on how a spouse can access their partner's funds in an emergency case?

Good luck, and kudos to you for helping your friends.
