What Do Thais Think Of Thai Visa Forum?...

Ahh, she laughs, but finds it hard to understand why we ask other falang about Thailand instead of asking a Thai.

Your wife does have a very good point. Why would a farang ask another farang about Thailand instead of asking a Thai? You are always better off going to the source rather than getting it second or third hand.wink.png

Because you're unlikely to get a straight answer from a Thai.

They tend to tell you what they think you want to hear.

Anyways, as far as I know TV doesn't have any Thai members.

(A few look Krungs that were raised and educated in the west, plus one or two naturalized, but I don't think that's the people you meant)

GUESS WHAT YOUR WRONG!!! there are thai people that read THAI VISA

I'm Thai, borne here educated here, and live here, I'm more than caperble to form and express my own opinions I don't feel the need to worry about what you want to hear or try to impress you, I just say what i think.bah.gif

Hi Leeporter, I would love to hear what you have to say, perhaps you can find a way to say it that is not rude?

On the other hand, I don't want to hear anything from a person who calls white foreigners 'farang'.

Clearly their opinion on anything is not worth hearing IMHO.

I think it's interesting to know what Thai people think of the forum and it's always interesting and welcome to see Thai people posting here. However, bottom line, the forum's focus is FOREIGNERS in Thailand and that is a good and valuable thing. Do you think Indian people in the USA who have their expat forums really CARE what Americans think about the stuff they are saying, which quite often is just not very nice?

Outsiders in any culture ALWAYS can see and feel things about a foreign culture that insiders just can't due to conditioning.

Feel free to disagree with others with respect but if you just came here to spew insults your posts will be deleted (as a few just have).

Come on, the poster asked for any Thai to see what they think, and when I told him what I actually think, why mine was deleted???

Yes, it's something you don't like, but that's what a Thai like me think.

If you don't want to hear it, why bother to create this thread???

You did so in a rude and disrespectful manner. That is why it was deleted. We don'y publicly discuss moderation here either. Please refrain from doing either in the future, and welcome to Thaivisa.

I think we can safely say that Mr Leeporter isn't a big fan of Thaivisa,or he just got out of bed the wrong side this morning.

You might as well retire from the forum then, because all of us use it.

No we do not. Many people here including me do not use it, and do not approve of others using it, Thai or foreigner. As it sometimes needs to be discussed, I use f-rang instead in writing to indicate what the word is without actually using it. Like the N-word. The Thai people that use it will use it and I think what foreigners think about that is irrelevant. But that doesn't mean foreigners have to use it themselves or even PROMOTE using it.

The apologists do tend to use it, and I already stated what I think about their opinions.

OK, that's two of you.

Two that REPRESENT a significant percentage of foreigners in Thailand.

OK, then every time a member uses the word "farang", put them on ignore.

I'm sure you and Tommo will have a lot to chat about alone together.

Perhaps I should change my name to Village F-rang or Village From Some Foreign Country Other Than Thailand Guy? Nah, I have been a farang for more than 35 years and kind of like the sound of it and the simplicity of it. Then again VF has a ring to it.wink.png

There are so many different opinions on tvf that at some point everyone is going to read a post that annoys them.

Its a discussion forum so its not really an opinion of the forum but the nutters on it.

Now pick a website that just promotes bile, like say stickman and the negative opinion will be justified.

Well, I have already asked some of my Thai friends in the past;

- Ex companion: Was very ant Thai visa saying it was a "bad" site only posting negative issues and comments, and that I shouldn't read it.

- My other friends are a mix of;

a) A different socio economic demographic, so they have no use for the info,

B) Do not read English websites unless it has sex, music, or grooming tips. I'm sure if TVF featured a big boobed TVFer of the day, one of my friends would come every day to check out the website. He has a fascination with boobs.

c) Not enough gory oics and no Thai content so they are not interested.

Your buddy Tommo has stated that he can't. To quote him, "I don't want to hear anything from a person who calls white foreigners 'farang'."

Which is pretty funny, because you don't have to go too far into his posting history to finding him quite openly referring to "farang bars".

most of the farang people posting on here seem to think of themselves as thai so....

I don't think so. I started a thread critical of a Western nationality and it went 23 pages. I would think you are 180 degrees off the mark. Most Thai bashing threads such as education, women with children, driving habits and such go a few pages everyone agrees and then they stop. Pick any nationality other than Thais that frequent Thai Visa and criticize them over even a little thing and see what happens. For example try Thai beer as opposed to a beer form another country and see what happens.

Interesting you mention that, I discovered a dirty secret the other day about one of my friends: He liks Leo beer. According to TVF, only old fat cheap slobs drink it. My friend is 30, and if there is a gust of wind, I fear he is likely to blow away, he's that skinny. I never thought he drank Leo.

Another of my friends, that Im close with drinks Chang. I never knew that. I always thought he was a heineken guy since that is what he often ordered. He confessed to me the other day, it was to impress the western ladies. Don't ask me why, but he's convinced the western ladies love him. He also provides me with grooming tips I cannot find on TVF. wink.png

You clearly know nothing about farang bars in Pattaya.

Many of these bars don't make profit from selling beer, they make money from collecting bar-fines.

Most of their staff are required to collect 8 bar fines a month and 20 lady drinks (coloured water), else their wages are reduced accordingly. As for no staff left, many of the girls return to work after an hour or so, or have 'booths' upstairs.

Thai bars are entirely different, they sell drinks not girls.

Looks like Tommo is going to have to start ignoring himself...

Sorry, I couldn't think of a more appropriate name for an establishment staffed by Thai hookers and for a clientèle of white foreign men only. But as JT says, I don't directly refer to white foreign men using that word, for the same reasons as he has.

Talking about "apologists". You couldn't say "foreigner bar"? Too difficult?

I'm Thai. born in Isaan, raised in the west.

I've got lots of relatives and Thai friends and none of them have heard of TV.

Hello doontp, what do you think of Thai Visa Forum?

a very informative site. like someone previously said.......an invaluable source of info

what do I think of most of the members? most posters would not have the balls to say to someone's face what they type........a lot of "keyboard commandos" in these forums. but to balance the scale.....this forum is filled with many good folks.

Ive got alot of Thai relatives also that have never heard of TVF. I also have alot of western relatives that have never heard also.

Don't worry Tommo, out of your considerations of being referred to as Falang...I shall refer to Falang on this board as Falang...however you I shall refer to as "White Devil." :D

P.S. you know I like you and all Tommo. :)
