Anyone got any idea what this thing might be?

It appeared in the CP river last week and when I first saw it I thought it might be something connected with oil spill recovery with a boom and suction thing.

But on looking closer I see it isn't a boom but a floating pipe line and the thing on the back looks like some sort of a digger.

There is nothing there to connect a pipe line to as it is parked opposite a temple.

Will go and have a look this morning to see if it is still there.

Perhaps for clearing water weeds and hauling to somewhere?

Don't know Jimmy but its gone this morning and the river is down 3 m, they must have closed a dam again.

The place where it was is high if not yet completely dry

Interesting question, Robby.

The mangle/scoop machine has a basket in it. I assume this is to catch something.

The floating lines are connected in a circle so this moving basin could be used to hold something.

The 2 guys on the boat are not working..

It is farther down stream this morning where I never went yesterday.

The lady says it belongs to the Govt Dept that looks after rivers and river banks.

This morning the thing on the back is down in the water and apparently working.

The pipe line is up on the shore and discharging dirty water.

I asked someone who was there what was going on and he answered what sounded like doum sai.

My poor grasp of Thai translated this into collecting or digging sand.

If that is correct then it is a Govt barge collecting sand with the thing on the back being a digger and the pipeline discharging the water that comes up with the sand.
