Uk Visit Visa In Expiring Thai Passport

Featured Replies

Is it relatively easy for an existing 5-year UK visit visa to be 'transfered' from an expiring Thai passport to a new passport? No name changes, just the passport expires in 2014 and the visa in 2018.

Anyone with experience and advice on this, please advise and also how recently it was done since rules can change. Links to any websites with the latest information would also be appreciated.

Thanks,

NL

Present both the old and new passports when you are travelling, this is accepted practice, and to have the visa transferred will cost you.

This is the advice on UKBA's website:-

Transferring a visa from an expired passport

You do not normally need to transfer your visa to your new passport - you can travel with both passports, and show them both to an immigration officer when you arrive in the UK.

If you want to transfer your visa, you will need to pay a fee. The Transferring your visa page explains what you need to do.

Thanks for that. About 5000 baht for a visa transfer to the new passport. I reckon the 2-passport routine will work better!
