AjarnNorth
According to posts in Thai Bird Report (on facebook) Autumn migration is well underway with YR flycatchers already netted and ringed at Laem Phak Bia (Philip Round) and etc. So get your bins and cameras out and up those yard lists (or otherwise). My first winter visitors were a pair of Grey Wagtails in Kanchanaburi a couple weeks ago. They are among the earliest to arrive every year, apparently. Popular Post AjarnNorth
My patch in Bangsaen, Chonburi yesterday. There were two more Painted Storks out of frame, but as yet no true winter visitors.
AjarnNorth
What a difference a week can make. 7 days ago, no winter visitors in my Bangsaen patch. Yesterday evening, about 30 Pacific Golden Plovers, 50+ Lesser Sand Plover, some Red Shank, Green Shank, Long Toed Stint, and Chinese Pond Heron. Winter visitors all.

Fairly quiet up here in Phetchabun but I clocked 6 Snipe sp. in flyby so I reckon winter visitors. Phil Round suggests Pintail. Who am I to argue Only got one pic which is average at best!!
Popular Post thetefldon
My first view of a Black-crowned Night Heron when 20 flew over the baan at 6.30am. Camera not set up for BIF unfortunately!
AjarnNorth
Interesting. I also saw a very large amount of Black-crowned Night Heron yesterday, almost all juveniles. Resident here so I see them throughout the year, but yesterday more than I had ever seen in one day. As for snipe, Pintail from Common for me was always made by call and the way they flushed. jack2964
Was out for a bit of fishing this morning and saw a single Grey wagtail feeding along a fast flowing stream. Also a flock of about 10 Bee-eaters flew past overhead but couldn't positively identify. My guess is Chestnut-headed Bee-eater as none had the central tail prong. But still no sign of Black Drongoes nor Brown Shrike. Edited August 28, 2017 by jack2964 incomplete name posted

Popular Post thetefldon
Ist migratory bird in garden this season is Eastern Crowned Warbler, assuming it may be passage migrant since Northern Phetchabun looks to be outside winter range to me. Been with me for three days and showing well early morning and late afternoon quite close to my viewing area. A fresh bird showing good and easy to recognise ID features. 9

AjarnNorth
Ashy Drongo arrived on my soi in Bangsaen, Chonburi today. They are the dominant drongo on my soi, with black being more common back in the wooded areas and mangrove areas I visit locally.

Popular Post AjarnNorth
My first Terek Sanpiper among or group of Pacific Golden Plovers in my patch in Bangsaen, Chonburi today. There were also Brown Shrike, one Darter, a lot of Common Kingfisher and Black-capped Night Heron, and one Indian Thick-knee. But the Terek was a new tick for me, even though it should be a fairly common winter visitor in these parts.
thetefldon
At last a view albeit distant of an Ashy Drongo(light morph-salangensis) and no-less than 3 Taiga Flycatchers in the garden at Na Ngua Phetchabun. Several sightings of both male and female Pied Harriers too. Would like to share images but it won't let me upload!!
