yes, it will be delivered to a proper address. when I previously tried DHL, they wouldn't come out here...said it was outside their delivery area ... I had to go 35km to go pick up the package.

so I should take it that fedex isn't the same as DHL and will actually bring it all the way out here?

I've had two bad experiences with FedEx. They used a third party Thai courier service to get my package from Bangkok to my home up north. On both packages they sent out the courier and then returned the package to Bangkok stating that the address is incorrect and could not be found - the regular postman delivers to the same address without a problem. Fedex never contacted me or the sender (even though they had both numbers), the only way I knew about it was by the tracking info. When I called the main support line, they take your info but do nothing (both times). The only way I eventually got both packages was to have my wife call the Bangkok office and speak to them in Thai to describe the route to the house - I should add, its not a difficult house to find, its in a well marked mooban just off a main highway.

Both packages eventually arrived safely, but in both cases, they probably would have arrived quicker by regular post. Perhaps you will have better luck than I did. Make sure you watch the tracking info, and call the local Fedex office if there is any problem. They'll bring it to your door, it just might take a while...

I have had no experience with fed ex but I have also heard nothing good about them. I had a debit card delivered by DHL it was here in four days. They called me to double check the address and I had it with in a half hour.

UPS has been excellent as well. Their Chiang Mai office called to confirm I'd be home at a certain time and then delivered the parcel when they said they would, and I'm in Pai.

I have to add, I've never had any issues with them in the US. In my opinion, they are one of the best options for fast shipping. But the service here in Thailand really comes up way short, just awful. They seem to hand packages over to various local delivery companies once they get to BKK, and that's where both problems I experienced occurred. Would not use for shipments to Thailand, but I will still use them for other needs.

FedEx is absolutely horrible in this country. I don't think the people who deliver are even FedEx employees. They seem to be third party contract couriers who don't know their asses from age 8. I live in the sticks. They can never find me by my address. The last time, I had to drive 35 kilometers to the courier's house to get my package!

And speed? Forget it. By the time the courier lets you package sit around while he is trying to deliver it or not delivering it, 3 or 4 days has gone by. It's a joke. Use the mail.

DHL dumps their stuff with EMS to send to Chiangrai. It took a week after arriving in Bangkok to receive my order. FedEx deliver themselves in Chiangrai. Goods arrived Bangkok 4am delivered that afternoon in Chiangrai.

I live in a rural area in Ratchaburi and Fedex had no trouble finding my place DHL would not deliver they mailed it to me from Bangkok. I had to call DHL a few time asking where is my package, the girl kept telling me they delivered it. She never siad they mailed it. Fedex deliver to me in a Fedex van so I don't think it was a third party.

It would appear there is no clear answer. Depends on where you live.

Also if they are using a third party it would depend on there ability.

All I know for sure is that as I have heard no good reports on Fed X here in Chiang Mai and have had excellent service from DHL.

Mind you mine was a debit card not a package.

Don't see why that should make a difference but maybe it does.
