Popular Post gomangosteen
Progress? I used to enjoy cycling along this dirt road, bouncing along the ruts and puddles; in last 2 weeks it's been transformed - grader-ed, now looks like next step will be a sealed road. Maybe she feeds them sometimes, but this old lady had her following today of five dogs
Popular Post gomangosteen
after rain Monday and Tuesday - lots of it - Wednesday and sunshine, happy to be out pedaling again the engines used to drive these aerators can be very noisy, amazed how often they are near the owner's house, maybe like living on a highway they get used to the constant noise.

Looking at that I think you would need a few crates of beer before you can work that piece of land again ,looks a bit on the the sticky side. PS is that roll cage home made? looks substantial. Popular Post riceyummm
Current state of my wife's new venture, a sugarcane and cassava buying station. I plan on doing a start to finish album on Facebook when she starts operating. If anyone's interested I'll post it here also. Although not strictly farming it is an integral part of the local farming scene. Personally, I find it fascinating.

Popular Post gomangosteen
Reed farming - stopped at the Mat Centre yesterday - but it was lunchtime - eating rather than working! Reeds on a nearby property Bang Sra Kao Mat Art Centre, amphur Laem Sing Approx 10km south of Chanthaburi city, towards Laem Sing town/coast. The geography of the seaside plain with several canals flowing through renders the place highly suitable for agriculture which is the major source of income for most of the 530 families in 5 villages living on more than 5000 acres of land. Apart from its farms producing rice, fibre plants, shrimp, fish and fruits, the village is famous for its cottage industry of mat-making from reeds. The ‘Chantaboon mat’ has become a representative product of the province. Visitors can observe the work in progress and shop for Bang Sra Kao mats and other products made of reed for souvenirs, as well as purchase processed food.

Popular Post shaggy1969
Just got some new photos of Ma's little fish farm project at the back of our home. Nets up and has weathered a big storm already, five of the seven tanks have fish in them now. Num and Junior have been doing well at the market selling the fish, have got almost daily orders from the noodle shops plus word has got around and people are also coming to our home to buy fish. Plants and flowers have already started to pop up.....won't be long before it's a flowery jungle the same as the front of our home.
Popular Post shaggy1969
Rice and palm trees. Have seen more and more people in our area opting to grow Palm trees. I hope that these ones do well, but to me it looks as though the Palm plants are planted too close together. Anyone know the proper spacing of the trees?
