loong
I'd heard that learning a language is like peeling an onion Both can make you cry. Thai is simple as shit.... Heres an example... Gai = Near Gai = Far And just to throw a spanner in it.. Gai = Chicken ... Simple... 555 Even the most rudimentary dictionary should help you avoid mistakes such as this. Glai (falling tone) - Near Glai (Mid tone) - Far Gai (low tone) - Chicken The thai words for near and far have an "L". chicken does not. Also, if you hear somebody ask " How chicken is it to Bangkok?", its a fair bet that you translated it incorrectly
geronimo
Came here thirty two years ago and I know exactly where you are! Don't give up. There will be times when you think you are just not getting better and then .... it gets better. The best answer to give when you don't understand is "Krapp" it isn't yes or no and it leads the conversation on. Recently met one of the family who was doing this with me all those years ago, when I told him I hadn't a clue what he was saying back then he roared with laughter.
