My Thai wife and I will go on a week-long honeymoon in Thailand in early May. I want it to be an extremely happy and memorable experience for her. She's suggested going to Hua Hin for our honeymoon as she's heard it's nice there. I think Krabi would be more romantic myself. She's never been to either place, nor have I, and in fact she's been very few places in Thailand and never to any resorts/beaches. She enjoys natural beauty, swimming, romantic dinners, and quiet uncrowded places. Neither of us care at all for the nightlife. She comes from a typical Thai village and has never lived in Bangkok or a real big city.

Right now I'm thinking of spending about 3 days in Hua Hin, enjoying the ocean/natural sights, and maybe seeing some historical sights, followed by 4 days in Krabi with boat trips to some of the nearby islands. Although they can be quite pricey, I'm considering staying at places that offer private-pool villas and/or beach-front villas, with lots of garden walkways, with mini-streams/waterfalls, etc. in a natural setting. I definitely think staying at a boutique style resort like that, with single and/or two-story villas is much more romantic than some high-rise concrete hotel.

I'm most interested in hearing from Thai women, or from men about the reactions of their Thai wife/gf about what they find to be romantic ideas/places for a honeymoon. I've got lots of my own ideas, but worry a bit that Thai women may have a bit different idea of what a romantic honeymoon should be.

Thanks in advance for your help.

We spent a night, many nights actually, but one particular night on top of a mountain on the Burma border in a cosy little cabin. Very cold, good for cuddling and an open fire outside. The stars were out in force up there and if you get up very early the next morning, you can see the valleys below covered in cloud.

But its a long way away.

Sam-H, Hi. I live near Krabi on a small island. Check out www.koyao.com and www.baypavilions.com

Or send me a private message and I will explain more. This place is perfect and the Thai guests love the natural setting.

Forget Hua Hin, soo not romantic. Go with the suggestion around the Krabi area, some stunnin places!

Whatever you choose, have a great time and remember......don't make the honeymoon too long because seven days makes a whole week! :o

Would suggest pranburi Tanao Sri resort, since you like quite sandy beach and natural surrounding.

A tranquil and peaceful resort, overlooking Pranburi's spectacular Paknampran Bay beach, The Tanao Sri combines the charm of nature with the sophistication of a truly international resort. The views scan across a sweeping stretch of some of the world's finest beaches. Nearer at hand are the Sam Roi Yod Mountains, a national park un-comparable in beauty and nature.

A small bungalo on the back side of Pu Chi Fa mountian along the Laos border in Chaing Rai province is an idea to consider. It's very cheap and very bueatiful. There is not a lot to do there except eat, hike, and sleep. If you want to get away from the crowds, than this might be a place worth considering.

A king size bed, covered in rose petals, soft music, meals delivered by room service, a good supply of baby oil, karma sutra book of instructions, a bottle of staminade and a reliable clock to inform you of check out date. :o

If you do decide to go to Hua Hin, we can recommend Kaban Tamor (rose petals on the bed) or Smor Spa resort (it's neighbour/sister resort) where we had a room with private jacuzzi. Both are online and their websites are fairly good reflections of the places.

Kaban Tamor

Smor Spa

Enjoy your honeymoon wherever you go!

Pattaya is gaining a reputation as a family resort, don't dismiss it out of hand.

Did you visited Pattaya lately???

Hi,

Based on the information you have provided me I would stronly recommend Evason hua hin resort and spa. I recently took my thai girlfriend there for 4 nights and it was fantastic. Its not anywhere near hua hin town, so you will need to find a transfer- but once there it is well worth it. Secluded and amazing.. we stayed in the romantic beach front room for 3 nights and the pool villa for the last night and I can highly recommend both to yourself and your wife. The prices are expensive compared to smaller places in crowded areas.. but I guess you get what you pay for as far as that goes. We paid 7,000/night for the romantic beach front room and 8,500 for the pool villa. If you hold a citibank credit card/other credit cards you may be entitled to discounts as well.

Hope this is of some assistance,

Josh :o
