Measurement Taken From Where?

In Thailand distances on Road Markers etc. are measured from the Bangkok City Pillar (Lak Muang) which is located across the street from the eastern wall of Wat Phra Kaeo to the Southeast of Sanam Luang.

about every provincial town in TH-surely every capital of chiangwat, has its own ''Lak Muang'' often with the ''official'' tome clock, this is the )-marker for that chiangwat.

In BKK it is however a marker at the Democrazy Monument circle-there is even a kind of explaining monument there.

As such it is a isolationist britsh thing- most Euro countries do not have such a thing.

Is that right? There is a marker in front of Notre Dame in Paris denoting zero point. Similarly, in Madrid, in front of the clock tower on Puerta del Sol.
