mania
Saw them today in Chiang Mai Kawasaki - nice looking little bike but you've got to wonder why not the Z300... I was looking at them yesterday too. Not sure why but it seemed to look quite a bit smaller than the N I was looking at the white ones parked right next to Lopalats green ninja near the street As for why not Z300...same tax reasons as why not the N300 I suppose
JonnyF
Saw them today in Chiang Mai Kawasaki - nice looking little bike but you've got to wonder why not the Z300... Yep I was up in Chiang Mai last week and had a look at the Kawasaki store. The naked is a lovely looking bike but honestly I prefer the faired version. They had a lovely green and black one (faired) Ninja 250 at the front of the shop and I'm very tempted to trade in my 2008 model. One of the best looking 250's I've ever seen. They also had a really nice er6n inside the air conditioned bit, matte black with gold wheels and loads of mods. Looked fantastic...

I know it's stupid but it looks good The windshield, on the other hand, needs to go...why would the windshield have to go? if you go above 160Km/s you will definitely miss the windshield. at 200Km/h you can barely move your head with a big helmet. the windshield is a must for +500cc bikes... the air force against your chest is ridiculous high when you go high speed, specially if you are a big guy.... montereyjp
What is the top speed on one of these Kawa 250's? What would you say is a comfortable cruizing speed on a long straight away like the last section on the motorway #7 coming into Pattaya? mania
What is the top speed on one of these Kawa 250's? What would you say is a comfortable cruizing speed on a long straight away like the last section on the motorway #7 coming into Pattaya? TIA This type of question is always tough as it always depends a bit Top speed would be somewhere not far above 160 I believe maybe 170-ish? If piped & filter changed. Stock maybe but it is not what I call rapid to reach that speed stock. Of course some will say higher but when I say top I mean wind up thru the gears on a basically flat road & what you will hit soon after winding out 5th & grabbing top gear. Not 5 minutes later I have been a bit over 160 when I had a pipe on it & did not need any run to get it. It went right thru 160 while winding up 5th & clicking into 6th. At that point I had to let off due to cars Now without the pipe 160 is not as easy/quick a reach but still doable. What I am saying is stock is this & modified has potential still Cruising long straight roads is not really my thing. Where I live we are lucky to have many interesting twisty mountain roads. I don't know the road your describing but sounds like a flat highway? But sometimes I do go for a longish mountain ride with the wife on the back... like Chiang Mai to Phayao About 150km each way We cruise easily in the 120-135kph range on those much bigger but still sweeping roads & of course slower in the tighter twisty sections Pretty decent for a 250 & that is the two of us on there So for me that is what I would call comfortable as you say. I think many folks tend to claim max which is not the same. If your like me & like tight twisty places to ride this type of bike is fine. I do not really think a big bike can do much better on the rides I do. After all max speeds in places like Samoeng Loop is not that high at all for 99% Of the ride. I doubt you break 120-130kph on this road For this type of ride I really prefer this type of bike actually Flickable & fun + cheap to run. But if the area you ride is those Pattaya highways I have seen videos of where guys are getting 200kph I would opt for a bigger bike. Just my opinion. RaysFan
Would you call the Z250 more of a touring bike? Sits more upright, correct? Im looking for a 250 that sits a little bit upright and can handle 80% street/highway and 20% dirt roads.... Would this be good?

Would this be good?AS you may or may not know, this bike is pretty much the same as the Ninja 250. For highway riding wind will be a problem on the Z250 whereas the fairing on the ninja would make it a better ride. The ninja actually sits quite upright, well more than my CBR and more than I expected. Perhaps you should sit on both. IMO the ninja is a better bike because of the wind protection of the fairings, but you may prefer the looks of the Z250. I wouldn't take either bike on dirt roads though. Maybe on flat well maintained dirt roads but that's about it.

Then what you need is the CB500X, about 60K baht more, a different bike with much better performance in every aspect. or the CRF250m, it's much better for dirt roads, but also suitable for the city... I wouldn't buy the z250 I was to drive on dirt roads. Edited June 11, 2013 by brfsa2

loserlazer
they had a proarm for cbr250 as well but could not find the link now. But, all i know, cbr250 and ninja 250 is using the same box type swing arm so it might fit!

mania
Looks nice in orange.... but that swingarm's gotta go! Yes it does tend to look anemic eh? I think it is basically the same on the Honda 500's yes? Both have chain guards that make that side look a little better & I have seen fake huggers that make it look like a beefy swing arm. I am not into that type of cosmetics But the best is probably the guys who swap them for something off other bikes. I guess it is enough as is but agree tends to look a bit wimpy Edited July 9, 2013 by mania
