oldsailor35
You run the risk of them extorting you if they know there is cash on you. YEP! tell them and they will get a share for sure. I would keep quiet about it, and did so recently.
oldsailor35
I belive the regulations are primarily aimed at preventing money laundering activities. In my opinion I would not take the risk of not declaring large amounts as if you don't they could take it off you at the airport on your way out saying that nothing was declared. Investigation might also follow to see if you were involved in illegal activities. Why risk it just declare. At a major airport you should not have corruption issues etc HELLOOOOOOOoo ! This is Thailand !

I would keep quiet about it, and did so recently. to avoid that , take someone as witness with you , and later take Pattaya bus or bell bus , NOT go sit alone in a TAXI ! and if really paranoid , go to a toilet facility in airport , change outfit & looks a little if the $$ ar worth it
