Three Thai family members want to visit the US this summer and I have been asked to complete the on line visa applications for them. I have already took a quick look at the embassy website and it appears to be pretty straight forward. One thing I noticed that may be a problem is attaching a on-line photo. Has anyone done this? Also any other pointers for applying for the visa appreciated.

It helps greatly if you are with them at the US Embassy Bangkok when they appear. It helped with my MIL, she was turned down the first time (when she appeared solo) .

Do hope the three family members have very good reasons to return to Thailand, that's the most important item in the visa application and interview process, critical.

Note, the American relative, friend, cannot participate in the interview itself. Guess they just had too many problems when s/he was allowed in the room if there was a rejection. Loud complaints, etc. Back in 2006 it was OK, and I went up to the window with my wife, and I was the one questioned, not her. Handily, I had a string of "retirement" extensions in my passport so interview went quickly.

ACCOMPANYING APPLICANTS: I am an American citizen and would like to accompany my Thai friend/fiancé/wife, colleague/etc. into the visa waiting area and assist him/her during the visa interview. Can I do this?

Only individuals applying for a visa are allowed to enter the building and to participate in the visa interview. Exceptions ARE NOT made for American citizens who are family members, colleagues, or friends of the applicant. The only exceptions are for children under the age of 16 and applicants with disabilities, who may be accompanied under certain circumstances.
