Since both of your names can't be on title I'm putting my name on it. Seems right to me even though it means paying cash.

In a land where I don't own the house - Having the car in my name seems fair. Sort of a matter of principle. I seriously doubt when a Thai man buys a car he puts it in his lady's name.

Some will say that means you don't trust your lady and I'm sure most guys who can afford to pay cash will say hell yeah it's in my name. I not as experienced as many of you are and wonder what the veterans here have to say.

I didn't pay cash but financed it and it is in my name, well at least after my last payment was completed. I would say it's a 'comfort' feeling knowing it is 100% yours.

What's the big deal? You have a spare key? If necessary, use your spare key, drive it away and crash it (or use it commit various offences / crimes). If you can't afford to write it off, then put it in your name.

Our car is in her name. We bought it with finance so easier in her name, However for our new house the bank wouldn't give her a morgage but did me. Of course the house is in her name. If she kicks me out, she can pay the morgage.

The car is better if it's in her name - there's no way she would wash it every week if it were in mine.

Anyboddy smart should think about it before using her name for anything, especially when it is not required.

Car and motor bike is in wifes name . House well its in her name too . Like others no bank loan for her unless I signed to pay for it .... I dont worry much my motto is if I dont live in it Im not paying for it . And if the family moves in I move out !

Her cars in her name, my pick ups in my name. The lands in her name with a usufruct on that for me which is useful ONLY if she dies and not for divorce reasons fyi.

We had to finance our car...didn't have enough cash to buy outright. Since I don't have a job, getting a loan in my name seemed like a big hassle. So, we had to have my wife's name on the finance papers. Gotta love it...she's got no job either!

Everything is in my name The car, the bikes and the house (well the house is in a company name). I feel safer that way.Having been taken to the cleaners by a ex wife and a long term partner both whom I trusted AT THE TIME in country my home...... who knows whats round the corner

INTERESTING: no rebuttals that the car can only be in one name. Our 2 cars are in both our names. They were bought a year apart from different dealers, so it was not just a one time mistake. The first one was with a resident certificate from immigration and the 2nd one was using my yellow book.

Since the wife payed forth car it's in her name I paid for my motorbike and put that in her name just because it's less hassle to buy and sell in a thai name.

Paid cash for the vehicles but like everything else in Thailand, I put them in her name. Makes the paperwork easier in my opinion and if anything happens to me she won’t have to go through the courts to prove ownership or sell them. I think of it as preparing for an unforeseen future event.

If I felt the need to have things in my name, I wouldn’t have been married to her for the last 15 years. Everything is ours so who cares what name is on the piece of paper. Your milage may differ.

Paid cash for everything and the whole shooting match is in her name including the pick up which she does not drive. Her driving skills are on a par with my Thai language ability. The vehicle is 11 years old now so due for renewal and that will also go into her name.

Had 12 wonderful years together the rice paddies, can't see a reason to change anything and if something untoward was to happen to me having it all in her name saves her hassles.
