I am still waiting on the former City Mayor of Hua Hin explaining how the technology he claimed they invented for the Hua Hin waste management actually works. He announced in 2006 that they have found a way to turn all plastic waste back into raw oil. I had never before laughed my ass off like I did after I read it.

It's called Thermal Depolymerization, nothing funny about it and it works, not only from cracking polymers into hydrocarbons, but also other sources like household garbage and organic waste.

Thailand is certainly an excellent test ground for it. wink.png

Could not agree more.

One wonders if the question was asked ? What is the shelf life when filled with Gasoline etc. ?

Judging by the amount of plastic bags handed out at convenience stores and supermarkets I thought Thailand already was the hub of bioplastic.

I got told that the rubbish on the beaches in Thailand comes from Indonesia and Myanmar and not from Thailand.

I found it remarkable that Indonesia and Myanmar changed to Thai letters.....as all the writing looked very Thai on the rubbish.

Of course the rubbish on the beach doesn't come from Thailand!

It's only the rubbish UNDER the beach that is home made.

Pathetic. Stupid is as stupid does. Saw the same thing in Mexico.

If I knew how to make a video go viral, and stop tourists from coming here, I would.

Even then, nothing would change. There really is no hope.

Bioplastic hub, eh? I demand a crackdown.

And police officers rushing to the scene of a reported crime. They are always depicted as rushing there. I suspect that they finish their tom yam or counting the days takings first.

a hub a day keeps the people with brains away

but hey, bio plastic, i hope they can pull it off and tell all those illegal garbage burners, that it will be bio degraded by itself .... what?

Posted

I hope they succeed, of course the government could get behind it and require all plastic containers to be made from biodegradable materials. Imagine how quickly the industry would boom then. Of course the oil industry might get mad and increase the cost of crude oil to Thailand.

Very interesting. Hopefully Obama can convince the shortsighted republicans into seeing the benefits of eco products and technologies. The US gives a great many incentives to big oil, seems if the US really wants to help cut pollution and its dependence on foreign oil this is a technology that should be helped along. But republicans will find some reason to keep it from prospering.
