As in every country, statistics are a part of life. Thailand is no exeption. So we learn that every year, more tourists are visiting Thailand. As far as this is concerned, statistics are available.

As to my knowlwdge, there are no statistics available as far as permanent farang residents is concerned. Permanent residents : People with "Retirement-Visas or Marriage Visas". (All ohters will have a difficult time to establish themselves as "permanent - residents" in the long run.)

So why is it not possible for Thai-Authorities to produce (in this computer-age) any sort of statistics, that would indicate the number of farangs residing in Thailand on a "permanent-basis".?

If this should be a state secret, I have a hunch, why this is a state secret. You too?

Cheers

Did you check out the PR thread in the Visa forum? They grant up to 100 per nationality per year, though if you read the PR thread some years post-2006 haven't been processed. No way are Thais organised enough to compile or publish such a list, but there's no need - to what ends? It's irrelevant; PR status doesn't stop Thai cashiers from calling out "Welcome Farang!" when you walk into a shop!

Not PR. There is a lot of info in the pined topics at the to of the forum. They'll give you definitions and 'stuff'.
