March 6, 200620 yr Phra That Chor Hae 2006 Fair to be held in Phrae Province The Tourism Authority of Thailand and Phrae Province will hold an event called Phra That Chor Hae 2006 Fair between the 8th and the 14th of March at Phra That Chor Hae Temple at Muang District of Phrae Province. The fair would like to invite Buddhists and tourists to visit and pay respect to Phra That Chor Hae. The province of Phrae is about 555 kilometers from Bangkok. Phra That Chor Hae is a sacred temple of Phrae Province, which contains the hair of the Buddha (เส้นพระเกศา). The temple was constructed during the Sukhothai era, while the Buddha’s relic has an octagonal shape and is 33 meters in length with Chiang Saen (เชียงแสน) artwork style. The relic is padded in light yellow-colour gold, and it is also a relic for the people who are born in the year of the tiger. Tourists who visit Phrae Province will usually visit Phra That Chor Hae Temple to pay homage there, as it will bring good luck to the prayers and their family members. The TAT and Phrae Province are aware of the importance in promoting tourism in Phrae Province and carry on the traditional practices. Therefore, they will organize Phra That Chor Hae 2006 Fair between the 8th and the 14th of March at Phra That Chor Hae Temple at the provincial Muang District. This year, many activities will be arranged to attract more Thai and foreign tourists. There will be many grand parades such as the elephant parade, the 12 zodiac parade, and other traditional parades.
