PATTAYA:--A 30 year old woman claimed on Monday to have handed in a bag containing 700,000 Baht in cash to a Police Officer at an East Pattaya Police Box and when she returned to check on the bag it had disappeared along with the officer who took possession of it.

On Monday afternoon Khun Supawan aged 30 found a black bag on the side of the road at the top-end of Soi Kao Ta Lo in East Pattaya and saw that the bag contained a considerable amount of money. She decided to hand the bag into the nearest Police Box located opposite the main market in Soi Kao Ta Lo. She spoke with a man wearing a white T-Shirt, Brown Trousers and Black Shoes who proceeded to make a Police Report. He then told the woman to leave so he could begin the investigation and return the bag to its rightful owner.

When she returned to her home a friend suggested she return to the Police Box to make sure the bag and its contents were still there. The bag had gone and the officer had disappeared.

I am sure if Khun Supawan reads her copy of the police report, she will notice it says "This is a late chinese new year gift for a man wearing a white T-Shirt, Brown Trousers and Black Shoes".

A fool and it's money are soon parted....? It was the BIB's legal obligation to abscond with the proceeds...? The rightful owner is another police officer and she is going to get a small reward...? What did she really expect would happen...? Any one of these answers fit the situation, pick one, or ad another.... After all, this is Thailand....coffee1.gif

Give the poor chap some time to complete that investigation, I say. Maybe he's really busy now at some karaoke / massage places recruiting deputies.

Nongprue Police adamant 700,000 Baht missing money never existed

PATTAYA:--A parade of over 30 Police and Police Volunteers took place at Nongprue Police Station on Tuesday afternoon as Police looked to unravel the mystery of the alleged disappearance of a bag containing 700,000 Baht in cash which was reportedly handed-into an East Pattaya Police Box on Monday.

Khun Supawan aged 30 was present but once again was unable to identify the officer she reportedly handed in the bag to at a Police Box in Soi Kao Ta Lo. She had found the bag further up the street and decided to hand the bag to Police who she assumed would find its rightful owner. Instead she claims that upon her return to the Box later in the day the officer had disappeared along with the bag of money.

I'm sorry but I fail to see where the 'mysterious' comes into it.

Appears that someone found some money in the street, handed it to the police and it disappeared (as did the police officer). What's mysterious about that ?

Looks like she learned a good lesson! Will never make that mistake again.

are you kidding? How big is the chance she finds another bag with 700,000 Baht?

What an idiot for handing it in in the first place. I once left 25,00baht on a bus to Surathani, wrote it off, my fault, if you can't look after your money, you can't blame someone else for thinking they can do a better job. That was back in '88 so worth a lot more than today, hopefully sorted some little Thai's life out for them.
