ExpatOilWorker
After 15 years since my last visit, I am finally going back to Phuket. Any suggestions for a good sea food restaurant? I will be driving and stay at the north/west end of the island, so any location is possible.
GiantFan
I went to the Lotus Restaurant in the Laguna area with friends last week. I went for lunch and it wasn't crowded at all. I've read that dinner can be another story. The restaurant has fish tanks as you enter, so you can pick whatever you want. The tiger prawns were delish. It is right on the beach in Bang Tao, so the view is pretty good as well. If you are mobile, go into Laguna and follow the signs for the golf course. Go past the golf course and when you get to a T junction, make a left. The Movenpick is in front of you. Wind around it and you will see the Lotus Restaurant on your right. I had no problem parking (2PM).
eezergood
MOst of the hotels have a seafood buffet night, these are usually the best value - dinner only
fiddlehead
Laem Hin seafood near Super Cheap (the big one) is our favorite. You can take the longtail out to the raft/restaurants (free) or just eat at the Laem Hin seafood at the pier. Excellent seafood IMO.

keestha
OP,considering you are staying at the northwest end of Phuket, try the seafood restaurant just across the bridge in Phangnga. Nice setting, good food. Edited March 7, 2013 by keestha
dogpoo
There is a fantastic sea food restaurant not far from mission hospital, if you pass mission hospital on your right, turn right at the lights and follow that road until you come to the restaurant on your left, we consider this to be the best sea food also consider it to be better than Laem Hin!! pagallim
Try this one (Krua Rim Lay), could be quite close to where you will be staying: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/188466-list-of-favourite-restaurants-in-phuket/page-19 Also, in the general area of Laem Hin, is Thalaytong. Always excellent seafood, and my personal preference over Laem Hin (which tends to be more quantity rather than quality), but both are in the 'better' category for sure: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/188466-list-of-favourite-restaurants-in-phuket/page-

The name of the restaurant you refer to is Paknam Seafood. The road it's on is called Rassadanusorn Road. It's good and not too expensive. It is a real hit with Thai bureaucrats. They also have another branch at Wongwian Nimitr (Seahorse Circle), but I have never eaten at that one.

pagallim
I prefer Chaiyo Seafood on the road to Khao Khad rather than Paknam. But I have never tried Laem Hin. Chaiyo is consistently good, in what is one of the best restaurant locations on the island. Freshest seafood you could possibly get, though sometimes the service (though always pleasant enough) can be a little hit and miss from the largely Burmese staff. Some photos from a previous visit (it doesn't change, though they have recently added some resort style accommodation):
