Ah, the 'I am older than you therefore I know better' routine. Very few people around these days left to have a first hand memory of the second world war, so unless you are really that old, you in reality are no better off than me. Ishouldn't feel the need to add it in, but I grew up in a predominetly Jewish suburb where there were plenty of holocaust survivors and being our neighbours, knew them and their backgrounds reasonably well, and our family employed cambodian refugees who escaped Pol Pot in their first jobs off the boat. Add to that, I do kind of like a bit of military history (Australian and WWII in particular). So to try and paint everyone as an ingnoramus isn't going to work. Yes the costumes are offensive, I've never denied that. But in the main, this is just ignorant silliness and the intent wasn't one of offense, or even to threaten anyone, so on that count, I'm pretty non-plussed about it. But then again, I'm not someone who gets offended when I look at myself naked in the mirror after a shower, so I guess that is where I am different to some. To turn it into this thread as long as this however, and see how bigoted and condecending we can be to Thai's is another story. And there has been plenty of that here which has gone uncommented on. As for the most evil human. Who knows? I didn't want to be tagged for being off topic by the wanna be mod squad (funny how you feel you can go off topic when it suits you)....probably a combination of the entire Nazi leadership, Idi Amin, Pol Pot, Mao for his great leaps forward. Stalin prbably has to be up there too. That is if we are talking about national rulers. Plenty of sick individuals who will never commit such wide spread atrocities too but who will remain unheard of, so in all, your question is a pretty dumb one. That puts him head and shoulders above Hitler and Stalin.. This Hitler thing in Thailand is a function of the crap education system here. The push by the hisos is to generally keep the peasants in a low state of education which suits their goals. An unfortunate by product of this strategy is when stories like this come out, showing a complete lack of understanding of history by Thai students. Seems to me a profit motive for territorial considerations after the Franco/Thai war (1940). Thai resistance may have delayed or halted the capture of Singapore and left the war a much different outcome in the early stages. Should be a pretty easy one to answer, otherwise you aren't any better than than those Nazi's who believed in genetic superiority as part of their justifcation for their atrocities.
