Catching A Huge Snake

Featured Replies

There is a company in Phuket that can come and remove snakes. Does anybody know how to contact these people. We have had a number of snakes previously but this one is way larger than any we have had to deal with in the past. Not sure what type it is. Any help appreciated.

The "company" is a charity called the Phuket Raum Jai Rescue Foundation and specialises in catching snakes (and other dangerous critters) FOR FREE !!!.

I used them once and they were very good.

Contact Khun Sayan Tammapant at 076-283346 / 076-355175

I believe he does not speak much english so get a Thai to call.

Large snakes in Phuket include the python and king cobra - let K. Sayan find out which it is and keep us posted.

Today received a phone call from wife in Buriram telling me she was scared there was a snake in the house up stairs (dont know what i could do from Oz)

Apparently she called the local lads over and they turned up with big sticks looking for a monster

They Asked how big was it and the reply was as big as her finger, they all left the house laughing

yeh but i wouldn't want to be bitten by a cobra, even of the size! still got the potential to kill yah. :o:D

Thanks heaps for the number of Sayan. We did manage to get hold of him and he removed it for us. If we had realised at the time that it was not poisonous we may have left it where it was as it turned out to be a rat snake. It was really long and about the width of a ladies wrist. Must have been feasting on the rats we did not know we had.

:o You're welcome... Rat snakes do give a nasty bite and are quite aggresive so it is better to be rid of them. BTW did he kill it or let it go?

My missus is an expert at catching big snakes.. in fact I'm gonna give her another go later on ! :o

totster :D

Sayan took it away in a sack. I guess he relocated it or maybe barbecued it. It certainly was agressive but I would be also if half a dozen huge people were bearing down on me with spades and hoes.

Totster does your wife use a garden hoe when hunting? Best leave the lights on.

Holy crap!! Another visit from the same gutsy guy today. Same type of snake but way bigger this time and biting. Sayan is not only brave he must be a bit mad to do that job for a living. I take my hat off to him.

Do you have any pics of the snake ?

The snake catcher is not Steve Irwin in disguise is it

I love snakes! I spent my youth in South Africa catching the buggers, including Cobras and Boomslangs. When I finally settle in Isaan I aim to catch a few more. I wonder if I offered a free service to rid people of their pesky intruding reptiles would I need a Work Permit?

Hmmmmm :D:D:o:D

had the same idea mate, venomous snake handling used to be part of my job,but wait till you see and try to catch a 3 metre pissed off king cobra :D you can forget all the snakes of your youth, I am not without bottle , but catching my first king cobra definitely warranted a change of underwear, browns and taipans even the gaboon viper(the victor Meldrew of snakes)are easy to handle compared to the king cobra, mind you it does taste good :Dnignoy

I hear you , the wife wasn't keen on the idea , but I suppose if she was keen, then I should be more worried.... :D

I was wondering about the legalities of it, but the speed of those KC's would warrant a few stains in the old shreddies. What other snakes have you caught?

No Croc , but I did catch a boomslang that is technically more venoumous ( back fanged )

I think the Mamba would be a specialist job , no room for mistakes.. :D
