Hi,

I'm looking for a picture of one or more monks using a computer.. Does anyone reading this have such a picture and could you post or email it to me?

Cheers,

Years I used to work at a university in Bangkok, teaching IT MBA, in which there were 10 monks. They all asked if they could put their voice recorders on my desk, which I usually said no to - but how could I refuse? They all had lap-top computers, and ALL the top technology - 30,000 baht cameras. One even had 3 Dupont gold pens, worth about 100,000 baht. I was kinda confused with these guys having the top stuff, but now realise that they are not breaking any of their precepts - well there is an old debate about monks accepting money. I believe the Buddha said that they should not accept money or gold.

I took a few photos of these guys, one with them all sitting using their lap-tops. When I get home I'll search for it.

Is this one any good?

BTW, this one doesn't open for me.. 'Access forbidden' ?

Any chance of mailing it to me?

Hi Chanchao,

Have you tried using Google, Yahoo, Msn or other search engines?

Try any one of them and search for "monk computer" and select images? Google came up with 406 images!

I think the Buddha was talking about gold as a spendable valuable. I don't think it would necessarily apply to the use of gold as an improvement for a technological piece of equipment.
