Don't you think it's ironic that people travel half way round the world then complain that the place they've moved to can't cook food in the same way as the place they left behind?

its not the cooking its the taste, its not colonel sanders secret recipe. its called deciet or misrepresenting.

To me, KFC tastes the same, but no good side dishes like hot biscuits that are standard in America.

McDonald's is pretty much the same everywhere, although it seems to me that bugers are not warmed as much as back home.

Burger King uses much better beef in USA, but Australia uses the same stuff as Thailand.

Pizza Hut in USA has New York crust which - IMO - is much better than the crust you can get here.

Dairy Queen seems to be the same, but I did not eat there a lot in America.

KFC in Thailand is not the same at all as KFC in America (IMHO). They have adapted it to local tastes. I would go one step further and say KFC in America is not the same as it was 20-30 years ago in America--when it was actually delicious!

They fry it in fish sauce and sprinkle sugar on top?

All fast food is regional. KFC in Japan is different, too. It's adapted to local tastes. Likewise, McD, Burger King & all the others differ from country to country. There is nothing sinister about it; in fact, these companies do significant research and R&D to come up with these local recipes.

I much perfer the KFC here in Thailand as the chicken does not taste anywhere as greasy as what KFC is in Australia. . Maybe they use the bush chickens that you see everywhere in the village instead. Only grunble i have with KFC is that crap they sell as root beer.

Horse manure. They produce certain special dishes for certain locales, but a Big Mac is meant to taste the same everywhere.

Agree, and as l am an expert on BigMacs laugh.png they are near the same the world over, except my Ubon local, they should heat them up a bit more. smile.png

I think the difference in taste, is the oil they fry in! In US they use corn oil but here I think the use a lot of rice oil!

So we can track it down as the Ubon branch the only one not being up to par with the rest of the world. wink.png

A chicken with three legs ?

Must be exclusive to KFC then.

I'm an American and should like KFC! But in my opinion, KFC, in any country, is just a big bucket of greasy bits that are supposed to resemble fried chicken. They don't even know how to butcher a chicken as you often get part of the bony backs attached to a small portion of the breast. All of the fried chicken franchises serve the same bucket of greasy bits.

The original Kentucky Fried Chicken was spiced, battered and then cooked in a pressure cooker; the pressure cooker made it very tender and gave the "crust" an unusual texture. I do remember eating it in the 60s. What is served in Thailand now does not resemble it.

I ate at KFC Pattaya a few times in my early Thailand days, but each and every time I would end up with the runners, so I gave up on them.

It really is bad here, IMHO. As an aside, Popeye's just opened at the Swamp (airport). I hope they expand because their chicken and side dishes are way better than KFC over here.

for the coating,1xcup of flour,i used imperial butter milk pancake mix,

1xtsp.of black pepper and 1xtsp salt,

2xtsp.of paprika,

2tsp.of mustard powder,

2tsp.of ground thyme,

2tsp.of basil,

half tsp.oregano,

1tsp.ground ginger,

all dry ingredients mixed together,1x egg beaten to coat,i used my hands to coat the chkn, then i fried the pcs.in a cup of oil till brown, then drained them on kichen paper, set the oven at 350 and laid the pieces on a rack and baked 45mins.

anyone else got a good taste-ing kfc.
