North Korea Moves Missile As World Watches

Still no mention of the CVN's position and I think that is so not to provoke the situation any further. S Korea on the equivalent to defcon 2 shows that now there is little room for error and with China taking up a more global position the knife edge is so very close for both sides, Kim has backed himself into a corner, how will he get out, can he get out without losing face?

http://www.smh.com.au/national/north-korea-directs-missiles-towards-australia-20120323-1vpb7.html

"NORTH KOREA'S forthcoming missile launch will be aimed towards South-East Asia and Australia for the first time, the US has warned.

The warning was delivered in person yesterday to the Foreign Affairs Minister, Bob Carr, by a senior official in the Obama Administration, Kurt Campbell, during a visit to Sydney.

North Korea, which claimed to have successfully tested a nuclear weapon in 2009, has for years worked to improve its long-range ballistic missile capability. Previous missile tests have been launched east, over Japan. But US intelligence suggests the launch announced for mid-April will be aimed south for the first time.

Carr, what a joke, snivelling, slimey globe trotting Mr. I . AM, put Smith back in there, at least he is credibale. my personal view anyway..........

Surprised he didn't just whip out a white flag and be done with it.

Appeaser-In-Chief Obama proposes to give up Asian Missile Defense in exchange for more empty promises from the Norks that they will give up their nuclear program.

The Intellectual Product Of The Choom Gang?

The hard fact is that the PRChina and the United States have to find a common ground to negotiate N Korea out of the mess it has created for an entire important region of the world, northeast Asia, where we have S Korea, Japan, China, Russia and, nearby, Taiwan.

It certainly is in the interests of the CCP-PRC to put the arm to N Korea. Even better would be to give 'em a good swift kick. The CCP-PRC is having a bad enough time as it is trying to convince East Asians, SE Asians, India, Australia et al that it is a responsible member of the international community. Beijing keeps scoring own-goals as it runs its own national socialist political economy with "Chinese characteristics" (picture Adolph Hitler as Chinese). Beijing is crashing around islands owned by Japan, blustering and bullying its way around the shores of Asean countries in the South China Sea, and is making India nervous again about its northern border after the PRChina started a border war against it in 1962.

Add to that its continued propping up of the N Korean Stalinist regime and the CCP-PRC is everybody's neighbor from hell throughout the entire region. There's no trust of Beijing at all, save for a few posters here.

If Pyongyang will denuclearize, it would be more likely to gain the respectable diplomatic recognition it so desperately seeks. But Pyongyang first must show signs of being somewhat respectable. The U.S. could (and would) reduce its robust forward military presence in the NE Asia region. The U.S. however will continue to have a strong military presence in the NE Asia region. Further, Beijing and Washington can experience a shared policy to end what neither wants, i.e., a nuclearized Korean peninsula. Beijing wants a nuclearized Korean peninsula like it needs the plague.

The first link below speaks primarily to the fact that CCP head Xi Jinping, speaking two days ago to an assembly of primarily Asian political and business leaders, at the annual Beijing-sponsored Boao Forum for Asia, declared that "no country should be allowed to throw a region and even the whole world into chaos for selfish gain”. Xi did not mention any country by name, but his condemnation of North Korea was clear for all to hear and seriously consider.

The second link, from the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, discusses the realities on the ground for the CCP-PRC vis-a-vis N Korea, i.e., no one will trust Beijing to do the right thing ever, at any time, if it fails right now to give Kim a good swift kick so he can ultimately set himself up straight with the world community for the next 40 years of his rule.

Xi Jingping has shown Pyongyang the yellow card while Washington continues to hold the red card. It's past time for both Washington and Beijing to make Pyongyang begin to get real.

North Korea's military has threatened the South with imminent "sledge-hammer"
retaliation unless Seoul apologises for anti-Pyongyang protesters burning
effigies of its revered leaders.

Condemning what it described as a "thrice-cursed ... monstrous criminal act",
the Korean People's Army (KPA) Supreme Command on Tuesday issued an "ultimatum"
threatening "just" and immediate action if an apology was not forthcoming.

In the event anyone missed a wicked hammering of the N Korean generals and Kim Jong Un by Jon Stewart on his show, here's the link to the video clip, "Nuke Kid on the Block"

http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/tue-april-2-2013/nuke-kid-on-the-block

One of the most significant aspects of the Stewart video is that it's gone viral in the PRChina. That a couple of million-plus PRChinese have hit and enjoyed the video indicates the improving knowledge of English in the PRC.

It's going viral there reflects the disrespect the vast majority of the PRChinese have of the N Korean leadership.

Equally important, the video going viral in the PRC indicates the dour and sour Chinese personality is waning as more young people, who question their own country's leadership, are acquiring a keen sense of humor - again, in English.

It's highly significant the CCP's massive thoroughgoing censorship machine has done nothing to stop the video's presence among its netizens to view and appreciate.

Humorous pictures have been deleted. Although the pictures are meant to be funny, they are offense to a small portion of posters who apparently support N.K.. Since they really don't add anything to the discussion, it is hard to justify their existence when they are reported.

So, this place called North Korea goes around huffing and puffing and threatening all and sundry. Time that the rest of the world says that if you don't pull your head in, we will come and do it for you.

Angry about sanctions I read somewhere. Perhaps if its made clear that you act appropriately for someone receiving freebies, instead of biting the hand that feeds you, because of your inability to run your own country, then we may continue aid. If you want to keep going the way you are, then, back behind the bike shed sonny, and by the way, we turned off the money and food tap.

At the end of the day what has this nation contributed to the world? Can't say I have read one damn good thing that they do. If they want to be reclusive then stay at home and SHUT THE TRUCK UP.

I feel sort of bad for North Korea right now. As of last week, they pretty

much had the full attention of America with its bellicose nonsense. Now with

the bombing in Boston, it would appear the attention of America is turning

inwards. I still remain fascinated as to how this will turn out. Not really sure if North Korea worries about face, but with all the threats they made, if they do not carry them out they will look like complete morons...

They'll look like heroes to their own people, having made the mighty USA heel and cower . . .

Propaganda is a wonderful thing
